We have to wait on what God has for us.

Notes & Transcripts | Sermon Questions
Introduction: Has anyone been to the store and went to the store and went down the frozen food isle and seen all the different foods that are available and look at the pictures on them and they make them seem so tantalizing and tasteful. You look at the picture and it is large and seems to take over the whole front of the box. There are a few things that are troublesome with this item, for one it is frozen and not ready to be consumed immediately. The other is the hunger that is associated with the picture and the anticipation of what is to consumed. You have to but it in the microwave, many will never to take the time to put anything in the oven they want the microwave because it gives a faster result to what we desire and that is to solve our craving to eat. We place it in the microwave and we wait on it to be done. The constant pacing in front of the microwave only adds to the tension, and then it happens the product is finished.
How many of us are in the same situation with God? Waiting and waiting on him to answer our prayers? Waiting on him to do something miracles in our lives?
Move to your first point.
James
Movement# Patience of a farmer vs.7-8
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains.
As believers we have to wait on the Lord and be patient. This are not the words that we would like to hear in most cases, but it is exactly what is needed in the is time. Many of pace in front of the microwave waiting, many will stop it before it’s done just because we are ready for the rewards that await.
That enemy inside of us keeps pulling us to the very thing we need to have the most patience with, it’s like a magnet it keeps drawing us in, we fight but it keeps pulling and ultimately we can’t resist.
The coming of the Lord is near James is trying to convey and he is coming with rewards because of your you have endured. This is not a passive acceptance this is active we as believers don’t sit back and wait we engage that spirit to resist it and ultimately concur it.
The “Farmer” plants and he waits for the seed to germinate before he can see the results of what he has planted. The one thing about the farmer he knows what season that he is to plant. Too often we don’t know what season we are in and we are trying to plant when it’s really time to harvest.
The farmer is confronted with weather conditions, droughts, he fights against diseases, insects and weeds just to ensure the seed that he planted comes to harvest.
How do you get there? Set you heart on the coming of the Lord “the harvest”
6. You go out everyday looking for the Lord you are waiting to see that spring of life come bursting out of that soil because you know you have planted good seed!
7. Then it finally happens, the seed of patience that you have planted is now coming to roost, but you have to be patient it is not fully ready to take on all that is was meant to, that small sprout only gives you an indication of what’s to come!
Illustration: Someone in their faith has been waiting for your situation to change. You have been praying, serving God in any way that you could. You kept running back to that place to see if anything has sprouted. Has the phone rang for that job, did the email come and I missed it? Day after day this has went on, when yo had just planted that seed. The one thing about the farmer he understands that if he gets good seeds and plants them they will continue grow and to come back every season because of the investment that he has put in the soil.

Movement#2 Patience with others

You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.
Our focus as believers should always be about the coming of the Lord, we look everyday for his return, with that we should always have a piece of our minds and our spirits that are glad!
As believers we struggle with others when we are going through our situations and we often separate ourselves from the very source that will help us.
We can’t start to complain about our situations and get moody or angry with one another yet in reality it’s just not time yet.
says “Do all things without murmurings and disputes!
The text says that the Judge is near in other words God is watching our every move and we will be judged because of our conduct in the midst of the snares that we find wrapped around our necks sucking life out of us..
You can judge a man pretty well by whether—if given a choice—he would ask for a light burden or a strong back.
How many are asking for a stronger back or do we just want a lighter burden?
7. As a people we want our faith to be strong, but it comes through a season of testing that many don’t want to partake in. God is telling somebody in here that if you want all that I got you better be asking for a stronger back!
Illustration: Tracey Morgan a famous comedian who a few years ago got into a tragic accident that left him in a place where he couldn’t walk he couldn’t work. He had all of this money bit it couldn’t heal him. “He tells the story that if you really want to know God you have to be patient. if you want to know God’s plan just ask him to show you, but you better be ready for the answer you better be strong enough to handle it. You may not get what you are looking for and you may not like what he shows you, but it is a part of his plan. He says this is a Chess game it takes years for some moves to be made, God is a genius and he has a master plan for your life.

Movement#3 Show patience of our forefathers vs.10

11 We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

Look to the ones that have come before us and suffered greatly for the God they love and had dedicated themselves to.
They faced all kinds of trials and temptations and they stood fast.
Job was a man that had it all, but because God suggested that he be tested he was stripped of everything that he had, his family turned on him, they questioned his motives and ultimately blamed him for his troubles.
Has anyone been in that place where everything around you is falling apart and people blame you? Or question your faith?
4. The enemy within you will have you questioning God because of your relationship with God we fill like some of these things shouldn’t be happening to us. But is telling you that it’s about time for you to break out of that canon we are in our lives that we fill insulated, but it’s just a matter of time that we have to break out.
5. Job din’t complain he gained depth while he was going through, he lost his home, his children, his livestock but he never questioned God nor did he complain and God blessed him for his trouble!
There is a story about Ruby Bridges. Every morning she walked the halls lined with people that was heckling her and shaking their fists at her. She had two marshals walked ahead of her and two behind her although she had all of this coming against her she kept coming everyday. She spent her school days isolated in a class room with her teachers. Her mother explained that there will be people that will talk about being good, there will be others that will argue what’s good and there will be others that will put their lives on the line for what’s right!
It’s just a matter of time before crisis will hit in your life will you be prepared?
Today is your day to make a stand “It’s about time!”
