Ro 12:1-13; 1Th 5:19-22. Dan Kroon. Ever since the Charismatic movement and the church’s reaction against institionalism (in the second half of last century), there has been a strong emphasis on spiritual gifts and how to 'discover' them. Books like Network and other assessment tools became all the rage and they’re still very popular today. And while the push to decentralising ministry in the church and to evaluation of the self are both great things, it’s important to put this discovery in a Biblical context. Over the last two weeks we’ve done this by considering the unity, diversity, ministry and maturity of the body of Christ. This Sunday we’ll do it by considering how we ought to think of ourselves, especially in the light of gospel transformation, humble faith and just giving things a go.
