Turn to Isaiah 6:1-8

Isaiah Has a Vision of God in the Year King Uzziah Died

Isaiah had a vision of God sitting on the throne. (6:1)
Around Him where seraphim which is a type of angel. (6:2)
They all cried “holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory” (6:3)
Then the room shook and was filled with smoke. (6:4)
Why did Isaiah see a vision of God’s Throne and didn’t actually go there?
What do angels do?
Why do you think the angels said Holy three times?
What does it mean to be holy?

Isaiah Recognized His Sin When He Saw God’s Holiness

He confessed to God, who is me for I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips, For my eyes have seen the king, The LORD of hosts.” (6:5)
Why isn’t Isaiah holy?
What does it mean to be undone?
What does it mean to have unclean lips?
What things in your life causes you to take your eyes off of God’s holiness and become unholy yourselves?
What does LORD of hosts mean?
What is God King over?

Isaiah Received Grace and Is Sent on a Missionary Journey as a Prophet

A seraphim placed a live coal on his mouth to symbolically show how his sins were taken away (6:6-7)
God then asked who would go to be His missionary to preach the gospel to Israel. Isaiah felt like he wanted to go and he asked God to send him. (6:8)
Why did God choose the symbolism of a live coal to show how He took away Isaiah’s sin?
What did Isaiah do right before having his sin taken away? Look at verse 5.
Who does God ask to go out as a missionary?
Are you willing to preach the gospel to those who need to Hear about Jesus?

Seeing Jesus in this Passage

Jesus tells us to “Go” and make disciples in .
However, one must be a disciple before going.
What does it mean to be a disciple?
Are you a disciple?
Have you went to make other disciples?

Questions

Why do people not feel the fear of God? Does our country understand His holiness?
Isaiah’s encounter with God changed him forever, has God changed you?
Why do people not see the seriousness of their sin? Why do they not believe it is worthy of Hell?
When you look at your life and holiness as compared to God’s life and holiness, how close to God’s holiness are you?
Do we keep rules to get to God or obey God’s voice when He tells us to do or not to do something?
Since God has forgiven us of so much, shouldn’t we forgive others?
