Rom 12:1-2
“1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but BE YE TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
“1ASI que, hermanos, os ruego por las misericordias de Dios, que presentéis vuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable á Dios, que es vuestro racional culto. 2Y no os conforméis á este siglo; mas reformaos por la renovación de vuestro entendimiento, para que experimentéis cuál sea la buena voluntad de Dios, agradable y perfecta.”
GRADUATING SENIORS:
The Truth is that our youth are all precious before the Lord! We the church are praying for you to take the precious seed of Jesus Christ to the world that needs Jesus.
We spoke about this body and how we receive all things into our heart, mind and soul. We’ve come to realize that we live in a world that tries to set the standards by which we live by, the attitudes by which we live by.
The truth is that without Jesus, we are living in darkness.
People say, “That’s Bad man!” “That’s wicked!”
They are saying “THAT’S GOOD.”
Is it coincidence what the Bible says?
Isaiah 5:20
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
“Ay de los que á lo malo dicen bueno, y á lo bueno malo; que hacen de la luz tinieblas, y de las tinieblas luz; que ponen lo amargo por dulce, y lo dulce por amargo!”
Instead of improving our young people are living in a degenerate time.
It used to be when this country prayed before each school day, the Bible was part of the curriculum, you could say Merry Christmas in school.
HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS STRAIGHT FROM THE ATHEIST MOUTH:
http://www.atheists.org/publicschools/faqs.prayer.html#abandoned
What’s Wrong with Prayer in Class?
Do Atheists Oppose Prayer Because it Doesn’t Work?
Should Religious Kids Be Able to Pray?
What About Voluntary Prayer?
Could We Have a Non-Offensive Prayer?
How About Changing Prayers Throughout the Year?
What About Those Who DO Want to Pray?
What About Student Initiated Prayer?
What About Our Religious Society?
What About a "Moment of Silence"?
Has Our Nation Declined Without Prayer?
Haven’t We Abandoned God?
Is Not Having Prayer in Schools Radical?
What Can I Do to Help?
Did Jesus Really Take a Stand Against School Prayer?
HAVEN’T WE ABANDONED GOD?
Q: But the country is falling apart! The crime rate is skyrocketing, we’ve got polluted air and everything is just getting worse! Haven ’t we abandoned God?
A: Now there’s something we could debate all day. But do a little historical research, and you will find that in many respects we are living better, longer and more productive lives than our predecessors did just 50 or 75 years ago. Think about the improvements to our lives which science and technology has brought us. That is one reason why Atheists are often pro-technology! We see the liberatory potential of science and technology to make life better in the here and now, rather than waiting to die so we can exist as spirits in some heavenly amusement park.
There are problems. Sometimes they are exaggerated by people who have a political or religious axe to grind. For instance, violent crime in the country has actually remained fairly steady over the years, at least as long as records have been maintained. The country is changing, and so is the make-up of our economy, our population, and our social institutions. These changes are not always bad, especially if they facilitate human freedom and civil liberties.
The point is this: we don’t want to be fooled into believing that we have some "state of emergency" that requires us to ignore our First Amendment and allow some theocracy to develop.
You tell me, what is happening to this nation?
The founding of American Atheists and later - Madalyn Murray O’Hair
Following the Supreme Court decision, she founded American Atheists, "a nationwide movement which defends the civil rights of non-believers, works for the separation of church and state, and addresses issues of First Amendment public policy." She acted as its first CEO before later handing that office on to her son Jon Garth.
In 1965, Madalyn married Richard O’Hair. Throughout the 1970s, she publicly debated religious leaders on a variety of issues and also produced an atheist radio program in which she criticized religion and theism. She filed lawsuits on many issues over which she felt there was a collusion of church and state in violation of the Constitution. At this point, Richard O’Hair disappeared from her life. [citation needed]
Paul makes a plea:
Present your bodies: Our bodies are the temple of the Living God. Paul writes to the Corinthians, we no longer belong to ourselves.
A living sacrifice: It will require an extra effort. To live above the crowd.
Holy: A life separated for the glory of God. That we will not hear the words from the Lord, “depart from me I never knew you.”
Acceptable unto God: Not what is the current fashion, the trends, the “IN” thing. But what does Jesus say about my dress, my conversations, my friends, my room, my mind.
Which is your reasonable service: God does not ask anything we cannot do.
Be not conformed to this world: Don’t be satisfied with what this world offers.
Be ye transformed: There has to be a change, a transformation internal and external.
By the renewing of your mind: If you are going to make a difference it has to start with you.
• Let the mind of the master be the master of your mind.
http://www.sermonillustrations.com/a-z/m/mind.htm
Prove what is that good: Let this world know that Jesus is God of your life, and prove to the world that there are still people that believe in God and His word.
Acceptable: What is acceptable to God.
Perfect, will of God: What is God’s will for your life?
Munford ACLU adviser is fired
By Lela Garlington, Commercial Appeal (Memphis, Tennessee), May 24, 2006
A nontenured Munford High teacher who was the faculty adviser for the newly formed ACLU campus chapter has lost her teaching job.
School officials gave her the news that they would not be renewing her contract on May 12. That’s the same day a letter was faxed to the school by an attorney representing the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee. The letter requested that the school cancel all prayers during Monday night’s graduation program.
After consulting with their local school board attorney and with the American Center for Law and Justice, the school did cancel all prayers, much to the dismay of many students and parents.
At Monday night’s graduation, most of the 286 graduating seniors recited "The Lord’s Prayer" during a time when Principal Darry Marshall had asked for a moment of silence and calm so everyone could "reflect on what makes this day so special."
School administrators say they had no idea the seniors were planning such a recitation.
Reached at her home late Tuesday, Dr. Patricia Kilzer, 45, who has taught chemistry and advanced placement chemistry for two years, said school administrators have refused to give her a reason why her contract is not being renewed.
http://www.jewsonfirst.org/06b/public085.html
In 1980, her son William converted to Christianity and was born again at a Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where he took up work as a preacher. This led to a permanent estrangement between mother and son. As she put it, "One could call this a postnatal abortion on the part of a mother, I guess; I repudiate him entirely and completely for now and all times...He is beyond human forgiveness." [2] In sermons, William accused his mother of using him as a tool in her crusade, claiming she had lied about her reasons for filing the lawsuit against Maryland, and that he had never been the victim of any kind of violence at the hands of his Christian classmates. He said that the true reason for his mother filing the suit was her deep personal hatred for followers of Christianity. He said her zeal against Christianity was so great that it had taken over her life and rendered her incapable of seeing other people (himself included) as anything but either enemies or people who agreed with her every ideal. [citation needed]
O’Hair was also critical of many other atheists, even expelling a few people from her organization. In a 1982 address, she criticized a wide variety of atheists as being unacceptable. [citation needed]

"We need to keep moving forward”

"A New Mind – A New Attitude!”

Contributed by Ricardo Rodriguez on Jul 15, 2009

Scripture:
Denomination: Apostolic

10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD.

11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?

12 “Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”

j 13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

14 “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

15 And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.

As we continue with the theme mind wars today, we will be focusing on “MOVING FORWARD”. There are many times in our lives where we feel that there is no option to move forward, we are trapped in our mindsets with no hope. This is exactly what the devil wants you to think, but our God is a God of hope, He is the God of forward thinking. Right at the beginning at creation He spoke the world into being. At His word everything has kept moving; time, creation, seasons etc. “for in Him we live and move and have our being. We are not static, we are not meant to be dormant, we are created in the image of God and have His nature. So if God is a moving God we need to be a moving people.
Jeremiah 29:11 NSFLB
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
“for in Him we live and move and have our being,
God has a plan and purpose for your future.
If you want to build a house, you draft plans. Even though the house is not built you are forward thinking it into being.
The enemy wants to stop you in your tracks and it all begins in your mind.

Lets Pray

Lets Pray

Exodus 14:10–15 NSFLB
10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. 11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
Point 1 Don’t shift into reverse
Luke 18:18–23 NSFLB
18 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 20 “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ” 21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” 22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

Don’t go back to what you know, what you thought was comfortable.

Romans 12:1–2 NSFLB
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
“1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world: but BE TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Isaiah 5:20 NSFLB
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
The truth is that without Jesus, we are living in darkness.
People say, “That’s Bad man!” “That’s wicked!”
They are saying “THAT’S GOOD.”
Is it coincidence what the Bible says?
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
Instead of improving our young people are living in a degenerate time.
It used to be when this country prayed before each school day, the Bible was part of the curriculum, you could say Merry Christmas in school.

Point 1 Don’t shift into reverse
Having a progressive, forward thinking attitude will keep you moving forward.
We learn from the past, but we are not meant to go back there.
Don’t go back to what you know, what you thought was comfortable.
Don’t go back to what you know, what you thought was comfortable.
Exodus 14:10–15 NSFLB
10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. Exodus 14:

19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:
Focusing on the new and not the old
Isaiah 43:19 NSFLB
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:
Point 2 Take your foot off the brake
Your thinking will either help you move forward or it will put your brakes on. If you are planning to go for a trip in the car you have to take your foot off the brake.
Is Not Having Prayer in Schools Radical?
What things are putting your brakes on.
What thoughts or fears are keeping you from moving forward.
What Can I Do to Help?
If we stop going forward eventually we will start going backward.
If we stop going forward eventually we will start going backward.
Did Jesus Really Take a Stand Against School Prayer?
Point 3 Put your foot on the Accelerator
For us to move forward we need to put our foot on the accelerator, examine our thoughts and challenge them, step out in faith.
Proverbs 16:3 NSFLB
3 Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.
Proverbs 3:5 NSFLB
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Q: But the country is falling apart! The crime rate is skyrocketing, we’ve got polluted air and everything is just getting worse! Haven ’t we abandoned God?
Isaiah 55:8–9 NSFLB
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
1. Israel said to Moses what have you done? Have you brought us here just to die? We were better off back in Egypt.
Isaiah 55
Ps John said in his message last week if we think we can we will, if we think we can’t we wont.
We need to press on toward the goal
Philippians 3:13–14 NSFLB
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philipians 3:13-14
There are so many things to stop us in our thinking, we need to push past them, put our foot on the accelerator and step out in faith.
Conclusion
As I said at the begining God is wanting to take us from where we are, into His plan for our lives.
Don’t shift into reverse
Take your foot off the brake
Put your foot on the Accelerator
We are not static, we are not meant to be dormant, we are created in the image of God and have His nature. So if God is a moving God, we need to be a moving people.
