This is true of Born-again Christians:
We are sinners in need of a Savior!
We are Saved by God’s Grace & Mercy through Christ’s Atoning Death, His Burial, and His Glorious Resurrection.
We are Indwelt by God’s Holy Spirit.
Heaven will be our Home someday!
We will experience Spiritual Victories this side of glory....and we will experience Spiritual Defeats and sometimes Disasters.
How do we live with these defeats?
How do we handle the regret, remorse, guilt and shame?
As always, God give us Hope and this message of Hope is found in
Review Davids sin with Bathsheba

The Rest of the Story

Psalm 32:1–2 HCSB
How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How joyful is the man the Lord does not charge with sin and in whose spirit is no deceit!
Joyful - ash-ray.. an inner joy that celebrates what God has done in our lives!
Transgression - Pay’shah - violating God’s law, or duty, or a moral principle.
Sin - Hata-ah - an act or contemplation that violates something forbidden by God or ignores something required by God. This can be an Act, a Thought, or an Attitude.
Forgiven - Nah-saw - sense that the transgression has been removed.
Covered - Kee-sah’ - To bury, to put out of sight…the sense that God is assuring us that the guilt of sin will not come back upon us judicially.
Does not charge with sin - the guilty record has been cleared!
In whose spirit is no deceit…no false estimate of self, nor insincerity before God.

The Story

Psalm 32:
Psalm 32:3–4 HCSB
When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy on me; my strength was drained as in the summer’s heat. Selah

The Rest of the Story (Again)

Psalm 32:5 HCSB
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You took away the guilt of my sin. Selah
Acknowledge and Confess are the same word: Ya-dah’ which means to reveal, to hand over.
Stop trying to conceal my guilt - the insanity of thinking that by distancing ourselves from God that He would somehow not notice what we have done. Stop it! Healing comes from running to the Lord and getting real and honest with Him…He already knows it, you need to to do your job of quit trying to hide it.
God not only wants to remove the sin from us but he wants to take away the guilt and shame as well.

We Are Forgiven! Live Like It!

Refuge! when you feel regreat, or defeated when looking back on your sin (Satan is the accuser of the brethren) take refuge in God…vs 6-7

Testify! - the fact that we know the story of David is because David told it! Once forgiven he was honest with God, himself, and others.
