Where did we leave off with Moses?

-The burning bush.
-God wants him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
-Moses is a little freaked out as most of us would be.
God tells Moses that he is going to send him to Pharaoh to free God’s people. That would have been a very big and dangerous task. Moses would have been totally unable to do it in his own strength.
After God Tells Moses what he wants him to do, he isn’t as eager to do it as one would think.
Exodus 3:11 ESV
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
Exodus 3:11
God tells Moses wants he has called him to do and Moses is thinking, “Out of all the people why me?” I’m not anybody anymore. I am 80 years old and a shepherd. The last time i was in Egypt I ran away as a murderer. How am i about go into Egypt and walk up to the most powerful leader in the world, and say hey, you know those slave you have? They belong to God and you have to let them go.
Moses Felt unqualified. He didn’t feel like he could do what God was calling him to do. And honestly he probably didn’t want to do what God was wanting him to do.
Moses is old. But God tells him this....
Exodus 3:12–14 ESV
He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
Exodus 3:
God tells Moses, do not worry for I will be with you.
Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
God will call you to do things that will make you go out of your comfort zone. He will make you do things that will seem impossible. But he promises us the same thing. He will call us to do the impossible, but he will be there is help us to do.
Moses asks then. okay what am i going to do once i get there. Say God sent me here. And God tells him, say I am sent you.
Exodus 4:1–15 ESV
Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you.’ ” The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.” And he said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it. But the Lord said to Moses, “Put out your hand and catch it by the tail”—so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand— “that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Again, the Lord said to him, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” And he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow. Then God said, “Put your hand back inside your cloak.” So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh. “If they will not believe you,” God said, “or listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign. If they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.” But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.” Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you both what to do.
Exodus 4:1-
The funny part about this story is Moses puts his staff down and it turns into a snake and he runs away. God makes his hand dis-formed and then make it well again.
After God prepares Moses with Signs, he begins to try to come up with other reasons why he is unqualified. Moses is pleading with God, please send someone else. This task is too great. I am not qualified. You just turned my hand look all weird and that freaked me out.

He tells God, God i have a stutter. I can’t speak very well, how i am supposed to stand before Pharaoh and speak on your behalf if I cant even get a clear word out.
God responds by says, Who made your mouth? I will help you speak. and moses still keeps coming up with excuses and it made God angry.
God finally says, okay your brother Aaron will help you. And Moses begins to head to Egypt.

What are some of the things you think Moses is thinking about at this moment as he is walking to Egypt?

He feels scared, nervous, unqualified,
2 cor 12
2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
In our weaknesses, God is strong.

Moses felt Unqualified

All of us are unqualified. None of us are worthy of God’s love for us. None of us deserved what Christ did on the cross for us. None of us are worthy to even speak to God and none of us are worthy to follow what God wants us to do and complete his will for this earth.
But even though we are unqualified and unworthy. He still loves you and wants to use you. But the question is, will you let him use you?

Will you let him use you?
