The Power of Sight

The Book of Hebrews

++Relationship
Hebrews 1:5 KJV 1900
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

++Salvation
Hebrews 2:2–4 KJV 1900
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Hebrews 3:19–4:3 KJV 1900
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 9:6 KJV 1900
6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
Hebrews 9:11–12 KJV 1900
11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

++Faith
Hebrews 10:18–22 KJV 1900
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

The life of the disciple is on that is rooted in faith.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV 1900
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is
++Substance
++Evidence
Faith cannot exist in Isolation
++It is an activating agent
++It needs something to activate
James 2:17 KJV 1900
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Faith is visible
James 2:18 KJV 1900
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
James is saying
++“Shew me”
++My faith is visible

Yet just as faith is visible in the activities we pursue, it also determines not just what we see but how we see it. #seefaithworknme

2 Peter 1:5 KJV 1900
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

The Power of Sight

Hebrews 12:14–17 KJV 1900
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Hide and Seek

In this Game a person would close there eyes and count, while others hide. Once the count has finished he would open his eyes and go find those that are hiding. The counter is careful as they look for the hiders. He doesn't have to touch them just see them and get back to base before they do.
Today man has a difficult time seeing God.
Consider Esau
++The firstborn of Issac
++A tremendous birthright
++A double portion inheritance.
Deuteronomy 21:17 KJV 1900
17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
The right of the Firstborn
++Not connected to favor
++Father’s strength
Hebrews 11:20 KJV 1900
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.

Esau had the wrong attitude

Genesis 25:32 KJV 1900
32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
His irreverent attitude toward this blessing showed a irreverent to God himself.

What Esau despised Jacob desired

God wants to pour out a double blessing, a double anointing,
He wants to give you natural things in supernatural power
Like Esau some will not recognize what God is doing and reject it not knowing that they are rejecting God.
I'm getting mine...I'll take yours too.
The Bible is filled with people that had not problem taking what was in the possession of another.
The wealth, earned prosperity, of the sinner is layer up, reserved for the just, that did not earn it.
Jesus speaks and declares that the bread of healing was for Israel and should not legally be given to the dogs, those that were outside the faith. It belonged to Israel by declaration.
Yet a women outside the faith given to Israel willingly accepted the crumbs, that which was rejected and found the full benefit in what they discarded.

God commanded it

Deuteronomy 8:1 KJV 1900
1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.
How to Handle God’s blessing
++Don’t make it less
++Don’t make issues into problems
With eyes wide open
++See the Lord
++Give God glory
Hebrews 12:14–16 KJV 1900
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
