We just finished up our series READ DA BOOK..
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name;
Worship the Lord in holy array.
We just finished up our series READ DA BOOK..
I think it is important to talk about worship this morning.
Because, There can be no true worship outside of the knowledge of God and who He is.
Notice the langue here Ascribe to the Lord
Ascribe, To place. In the sense of, to give or place value upon.
To place. In the sense of, to give or place value upon.
You can not give prober value for a thing unless you know how valuable a real thing is.
There can be no true worship outside of the knowledge of God and who He is.
John 4:24 NASB95
24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Back to our text
Worship the Lord in Holy Array.
The word worship here is the word shaw-khaw' meaning to prostrate (especially reflexively in homage to royalty or God) bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship.
So basically when God says to worship Him with your life ,He is say lay down your life.
Our lives are to be worship.
To worship one first needs an object to admire.
AW Tozer says, in his definition of worship. That is is “ to feel in the heart and to express.”
He add that without humility worship does not exist because humility is the acknowledgment that the object is great the one beholding the objected.
And in humility the beholder admires with awe .
Worship is not an experience but a lifestyle.
It’s a condition of the heart.
When I raise my hand it is the outward expression of my heart.
True worship starts in the heart.
And the expression goes to an object
Yes, notice I am using the term object rather than He.
Because it is true that anything can be worship but you can not experience and encounter everything.
So when I came to God my worship was to an object and the object was a that
I’m going to try to make a point
(KJV 1900)
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. (KJV 1900)

The question becomes why would John when referring about Jesus refer to him as a that rather than a He.
With an account or character of the Mediator’s person. He is the great subject of the gospel, the foundation and object of our faith and hope, the bond and cement that unite us unto God. He should be well known; and he is represented here, Matthew Henry
The question becomes why would John when referring about Jesus refer to him as a that rather than a He.
Matthew Henry’s
The question becomes why would John when referring about Jesus refer to him as a that rather than a He.
When He is a that, often time We just worship out of obligation alone
Which produces ungodly fear of him
And when He remains only an object to us then the stormy or the troubles of life come our energy for him decreases because we had the wrong concept of his reality
When the that became a He my energy to worship increase
I went to church and I even read my bible but honestly worship is much more than church attendance and Reading da Book
It begins there but We cant stop at hearing and reading we must put our faith in the very thing that we have heard
(NASB95)
Romans 10:13–17 NASB95
13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” 16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
Yes faith come by hearing but faith is then activated by doing
16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Yes faith come by hearing but faith is then activated by doing
If you just coming in hear you’ll never truly be a worshiper
Why? Because it is faith that activated what we hear and read
Jesus says to Martha in
(NASB95)
John 11:40 NASB95
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
if you believe you will see.
So then faith produce knowledge… it does beyond hearing
Placing faith in what you have read or heard produces knowledge.
You know I believe that.. and because I believe that I’m going to do this
And once we do what we believe we experience our faith.
if you believe, you will see or experience
And you can not have true worship without knowledge
Experience and makes our worship personal.
I read
Psalm 145:8 NASB95
8 The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
i look back over my like and i’ve experienced
Now i have increased in confidence
now when i say that verse it not just words. i’m ascribing value
so, knowledge gives us confidence that our believing was not in vain.
And when we experience what we believe it produces confidence
Then we can really say
Psalm 16:8 NASB95
8 I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Now the question becomes,
8 I have set the Lord always before me:
Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Now the question becomes,
Can you experience something that you do believe in?
And the answer is yes..
I don’t have to know how fast the earth spins on its axis
Sherry Shepard from the view said one time on national television that she didn’t know if the world was round or not
Just because she didn’t know doesn’t mean that it flatten out.
if a thing is true it remains true weather you believe it or not.
But it is true that you cannot acknowledge what you do not know.
I didn’t know I was a little Cherokee Indian…
But now that I know.. I going to reap some of the benefits of this revelation.
Im brotha Spencer gonna take me to a PowWow
I didn’t know that God was a Father. So I lived my life in rejection and fear till I found out and I said NO MORE AM I FATHERLESS
And now when I pray, i know “our Father” is my Father.
Experience + Believe = knowledge
Experience + Believe = knowledge
And you can not have true worship without knowledge
Experience and knowledge makes our worship my personal
and
Ascribing is acknowledging
And knowledge gives us confidence that our believing was not in vain.
I heard that
Romans 10:13 NASB95
13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
says,
I heard so I had the knowledge so I called and when he saved me I had the experience.
13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
I heard so I had the knowledge so I called and when he saved me I had the experience.
every christian has experienced God power.
why, brother Derrick? when He pick you up out of your sin and saved you.
ascribe to the Lord
Placing faith in what we believe leads to knowledge which gives us confidence to experience and then the beholder has true worship.
You where created to worship
Meaning you were not just created to know about God NOOOO
i read da book
God didn’t just make you to think big either
God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3 NASB95
3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3 NASB95
3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
ive seen God hand on my life
3 God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
3 God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
know what He says about himself is not a lie
Why? So we could experience what we believe.
So we know what he says about himself is not a lie
so, i must Ascribe
Experience what you know
Experience what you have been told lets you know what you have heard is true.
True worship is the worship of God in spirit and truth.
this happens When God comes into our Reality.
Our everyday..
That goodlooking Godly wife He came you, that you don’t deserve!
acribe to the Lord..
Lord I thank you for being better to me than i deserve you are so good.
Psalm 34:1 NASB95
1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
ps 34:
there is always a reason to bless the Lord.
david said in
Psalm 39:12 NASB95
12 “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner like all my fathers.
Ascribe to the Lord.
I know God is good not because someone told me but because I have experienced His Goodness
You cant stop my worship
Ascribe to the Lord
I was lost but now I am found
And found is far better than being lost
He deserves my worship.
Acribe to the Lord
He picked me up and turned me around.. placed my feet on solid ground
Excuse me.. call me what you like. Like david said “I can become more undignified than this…
Ascribe to the Lord O sons of the mighty
Oh magnify the Lord with me.. let us exult His name together
Oh magnify the Lord with me.. let us exult His name together
Acribe to the lord glory and strength.
my God aint Dead
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array.
Oh bless the Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Oh bless the Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
I’ll come with some question...
If God is omnipresent, is a little big of God, All of God?
and Can God be anywhere just a little bit?
Now, follow me. What if the “little of God” has nothing to do with God at all, but rather how your perception of Him.
I’ll take if further. if God is ever little its because we have made Him that way in our minds.
Maybe God aint the problem, maybe the problem is in between your ears.
God is never small! we make Him small by the way we think of Him.
THats why
Psalm 34:3 NASB95
3 O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Oh magnify (make Him bigger)
the Lord with me. (I need your help)
the magnification Doesn't make him bigger, but rather it changes how big you (we) think He is!
And
And We have a obligation to make Him big, together!
We have a obligation to make Him big, together!
Like a telescope, the object size doesn't change, just the viewer prospective.
We change our prospective of God together...
