Looking back at the events of the flood, we were taught that Noah had 3 sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
This week we look at Shem’s descendants, which ultimately lead up to Abraham.
Lets read it now.

The Bible calls for humility.
God is looking for people who are not proud.
says, “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.”
In that verse God says He hates the proud.
That concerns me, because I am a proud person.
At the root of sin, is pride.
When we sin, we know what is right, but we deny it, because we want our desires above God’s desires.
Most of our conflicts are because of pride.
When two people fight or argue, the reason for the fight, is because you have two proud people, saying, “I am right.”
You may think back to yourself, “Well, I was right, I am right.”
And yet, is the argument, worth the fight?
No.
But our pride convinces it is.
Imagine, how your marriage would improve if you didn’t feel the need to prove that you’re right.
Meanwhile, how the Bible calls for humility, God calls for humility.
In fact, think of the language that God uses for the humble, especially in opposition to the proud.
Where it says that God hates the proud, he never says anything like that about the humble.
Which stands in contrast to how we live and think.
Instead, think of the beatitudes.
Jesus says,
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
-
and, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
-
How about how Paul describes Christians, those who make up the church.
