Christ’s work

You know when you’re doing something wrong…and you know it’s wrong…and something comes on the radio or you read something on Facebook that points that out and instead of listening to that, you just change the radio station?? Or maybe quickly scroll through whatever Bible verse someone just posted on Facebook??
so the other day on the way to work, the traffic was moving good, actually for a Monday it was moving really good. and all of a sudden we came to a complete stop. at first i was okay with it all, i left a little early and thought it was no big deal. but the closer it got to 6:00 the more irritated i got. In the middle of me cussing everyone that was moving around me a song came on the radio that convicted me. instead of changing the way i felt about the traffic I just changed the radio station.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

why do we hide from God when we do something wrong?

this isn’t a new problem, we can trace it all the way back to Adam and Eve.
King James Version Chapter 3

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Just as Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden, we still tend to hide from God when we sin today.

We hide because of our sin. We know that God can’t stand sin. That he punishes it. we all can think of times where God judged people for their sins, maybe you are thinking of the flood or when God destroyed two cities with fire and brimstone for their sins. for some reason we think we can run form that judgement.

It’s almost funny that we think we can hide from God despite all the times in the Bible people have tried to run and have failed.

the first person that come to my mind is David.

David and Bathsheba is a story we all probably know by heart. This story shows that even if we go to great lengths to cover up our sin we can never hide it from God. we find it in 2 Samuel 11

11 And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. 2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. 3 And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? 4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. 5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child

to save a little time i wont read the whole story.
to save a little time i wont read the whole story,
David sends for Uriah to come home, He was hoping that he would go home to his wife so he could cover up the pregnancy. but instead of spending time with is wife he stayed at the gate of David’s house because he didn’t feel like he should be enjoying his house and bed knowing he should be at war. David tried multiple times to try to get him to go home and spend time with his wife. eventually he gave up and sent him back to war with the orders in his hand to have him put in the middle of the hottest battle and pull back every one but him.
David thought he had all the loose ends tied up and no one would ever know about Uriah’s death and there would be explanation for the baby. but then Nathan the prophet came to David.

12 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: 6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. 9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Just like David we might think we can hide our sins from God. but the Bible is very clear that we can’t.

just like David we might think we can hid our sins from God. but the Bible is very clear that we can’t.
King James Version Chapter 4

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

if Christ did all the work on the cross what is there for us to do.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

King James Version Chapter 23
So if we can’t run or hide our sins from God, what are we to do? We must confront our sin.

The word “Sin” connotates condemnation...

How can we improve on what Christ did?

23 For the wages of sin is death;

For meany of us, this was one of the first verses we memorized. From as far back as i can remember this verse and its principles were pounded into my head. Sin has a punishment, death. Blood must be shed for the wrongs we have done.
23 For the wages of sin is death;
the only thing we can do is praise God for what he did. also to share what Christ has done with others
The Holy Bible: King James Version. (2009). (Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version., ). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.
. sin demands death. blood must be shed for the wrongs we have done.
In the Old Testament, the death was that of an animal; a specific, spotless animal was required. Once Christ came, He took that sin and the punishment for it once for all.
sin demands death. blood must be shed for the wrongs we have done.
sin demands death. blood must be shed for the wrongs we have done.
Meany of us are still stuck in the misconception that sin still needs a punishment. often we think the punishment is separation from God, not death. we think if we “sin” God doesn't listen to my prayers, or that he listens but wont answer them. we may also believe that God will Bring judgment into our lives for the “sins” but how can that be?

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

The repercussion of sin is death.

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

the bible is very clear about that

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, vfor that all have sinned:

sense Christ took away all sin through is death their is no longer any sin. honestly i think if I use the phrase “wrong doing”, instead of sin it would help understand better . We don’t fear the condemnation as much with “wrong doing” as we do with SIN. But because of Christ’s death, there is no longer the fear of condemnation. Sin no longer has control over us. We still do wrong but we are not under the control of sin.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

why do we hide from God when we do something wrong?

just as Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden, we still hide from God when sin today.

but is there any reason we as saved believers should hide?

Sin connotates condemnation...

23 For the wages of sin is death;

sin demands death. someone must die for the wrongs we have done.

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

you know it’s funny that we think we can hide from God!!

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Jeremiah 23:24 MEV
Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I do not see him? says the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

Because of Christ’s death, we don’t have to hide from God anymore. Instead we can stand boldly before God

How can I stand before God in the mites of sin?? Its not that I'm okay with "sin" but it that I understand what Chris has done for me.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

from the moment Jesus said “it is finished” sin had no power of us.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Hebrews 4:16 KJV 1900
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

When Jesus said it is finished, He has saying that the penalty of sin was payed.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. MEV

How can I stand before God in the mites of sin?? Its not that I'm okay with doing bad or "sin" but it that I believe what God says, that I'm holy, clean, forgiven...
Its not that I'm okay with doing bad or "sin" but it that I believe what God says, that I'm holy, clean, forgiven...

but why don't I feel bold, when i come before God?

We don't believe that we are holy or that we are forgiven… we don't understand fully what christ has done for us. it is hard in a society that every thing we do has a consequence to it, to believe that when i do something wrong God wont punish me for it.
we don't understand fully what christ has done for us.
We should stand before our sin our strongholds with The confidence of David when he fought the giant. Knowing that God not only will defeat them but already has defeated them!!

Not only did Christ take away our sin, he put it to death in our lives.

once we are saved we become dead to sin. sin is no longer a part of us, we no longer have to sin. Now i’m not saying that we will never sin again, we will. but what i am saying is that we no longer want to sin.

What's the worst thing about Christianity?? We feel that were better then everyone else...our self-righteous persona...even though we have done nothing ourselves we still think were better then everyone else!

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

i’m the one that causes the separation for God.

I think the the solution is changing our perspective on sin.

sense Christ took away all sin through his death their is no longer any sin. We don’t need to fear the condemnation anymore, because of Christ’s death. Sin no longer has control over us. We still do wrong but we are not under the control of sin.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

now i’m not saying we should just live in sin because god has forgiven me of it.

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Christ completed it all. There is nothing left for us to do. Through His death, our debt was paid.

once we are saved we become dead to sin. sin is no longer a part of us, we no longer have to sin. Now i’m not saying that we will never sin again, we will. but what i am saying is that we no longer want to sin.

once we understand what he has done, at least as much as we can, you can’t but fall down in awe at his feet. it makes us want to serve him. it makes you not want to sin. if we truly understood what God has done for us it makes us runt to him.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We want to continue to work, to do something that makes us feel worthy of what Christ has done. But we are not worthy…without Christ there is no good in us. His death on the cross was out of love for us. It is a gift we can never deserve. But it is a gift we freely have and there is nothing else we are required to do.

We should stand before our sin our strongholds with The confidence of David when he fought the giant. Knowing that God not only will defeat them but already has defeated them!!

once you understand what he has done, at least as much as we can, you can’t but fall down in awe at his feet. it makes us want to serve him. it makes you not want to sin. if we truly understood what God has done for us it makes us runt to him.

The repercussion of my sin is Christ's death

once we understand what he has done, at least as much as we can, you can’t but fall down in awe at his feet. it makes us want to serve him.

So why do we serve God If we don’t have to, what is the point?

once we understand what he has done, at least as much as we can, we can’t help but fall down in awe at his feet. it makes us want to serve him. Once again, our perspective has changed and we now serve, follow, and obey God out of a desire to do so instead of out of a perceived duty.

Remember when you were a kid and you did something wrong?

Maybe you were afraid to tell your parents or maybe you tried to hide it, lie about it, or just hoped they didn’t find out. You took great pains to keep them from finding out because you didn’t want to face the consequences of that action. And just when you thought you were in the clear, your parents say something that would indicate that they do in fact know exactly what you did. You debate if you should continue to hide or confess to something it seems like they already know. After much debate, you finally confess…and find out that the punishment you feared was not as bad as you thought it was going to be. You still had to face the consequences for your actions but you realized that you were not going to be grounded for the rest of your life or anything extreme like that! And in that moment you started to understand that your parents love you and it doesn’t matter what you do, their love doesn’t change. Maybe the next time you were thinking of doing something wrong, that moment was brought back to your attention and, out of love for the parents, you chose not to do the thing you were contemplating.
That’s how it is with God. He finished the work of our salvation on the cross, and there is nothing left for us to do. When we do wrong, sometimes our response sometimes is to try to run and hide from the God Who will always love us more than we can imagine. Of course, we all know that God still sees and knows our sin and it’s impossible to hide from Him. But when we are afraid of the punishment, sometimes we still try. just like when we were kids, God isn’t waiting to punish us. Yes, sometimes we face the consequences of our actions still, but it doesn’t change the fact that God loves us and always will.
we should never be ashamed to come before God but we should do it with boldness.
And, in that moment of wrong, I can still commune with God. I can not only come before God but I can come boldly before the God Who sent His Son to take the punishment for my sin. No matter what I’ve done I have the power to come boldly to the throne of grace. That is so amazing that it should give me a desire to love God back…to serve and follow Him because I want to.
so the next time that song comes on the radio, or we see that post on Facebook, lets not turn it off or scroll through it fast. Let’s listen to what God is saying and turn from our sin.

Even when i am in the mist sin or wrong doing I should be able to commune with God.

now i’m not saying we should just live in sin because god has forgiven me of it.

if Christ did all the work on the cross what is there for us to do.
How can we improve on what Christ did?
the only thing we can do is praise God for what he did. also to share what Christ has done with others

If you've got pain, He's a pain taker If you feel lost, He's a way maker If you need freedom or saving, He's a prison-shaking Savior If you got chains, He's a chain breaker
We've all searched for the light of day in the dead of night We've all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight We've all run to things we know just ain't right When there's a better life, there's a better life
If you've got pain, He's a pain taker If you feel lost, He's a way maker If you need freedom or saving, He's a prison-shaking Savior If you got chains, He's a chain breaker
Today we live, today we breathe Today we know that we are strong when we are weak Today we trust, we overcome Take every chain that kept us slaves and throw em' off
We're not waiting for permission We defy our inhibition Like our middle name is "fearless" Unafraid
If we're gonna fly, we fly like eagles Arms out wide If we're gonna fear, we fear no evil We will rise By your power, we will go By your spirit, we are bold If we're gonna stand, we stand as giants If we're gonna walk, we walk as lions We walk as lions
Today is ours, it's always been Before we face the fight We know who's gonna win We live by faith and not by sight We don't want safe and quiet We don't wanna run and hide
This is not an intermission It's our time, not gonna miss it You've already called us fearless Unafraid
If we're gonna fly, we fly like eagles Arms out wide If we're gonna fear, we fear no evil We will rise By your power, we will go By your spirit, we are bold If we're gonna stand, we stand as giants If we're gonna walk, we walk as lions We walk as lions
Oh, everywhere we go The battle has been won We know you've gone before us So, we take it hard in faith With every step we take We know we'll rise victorious
If we're gonna fly, we fly like eagles Arms out wide If we're gonna fear, we fear no evil We will rise By your power, we will go By your spirit, we are bold If we're gonna stand, we stand as giants If we're gonna walk, we walk as lions We walk as lions
