Decide to serve (1 Cor. 14:33)

1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV 1900
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1 cor
Good decisions are easy to make.
Good decisions are easy to make.
Your best decisions are usually much more difficult.
Your best decisions will never violate God’s Word.
Your best decisions have three things in common
Loving God.
Serving others.
Trusting God with the outcome.

Selfishness (Matt. 16:24)

By nature we are selfish people.
The quickest way to forget about God is to be consumed with yourself. (Matt. 16:24)
Matthew 16:24 KJV 1900
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
John 4:34 KJV 1900
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
When culture says, “fill yourself”, God tells us to fill others.
God did not create us to takers, but givers.

The Servant ()

Matthew 23:11 KJV 1900
11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
ill: nursing home
The church does not exist for us. We are the church. We exist for the world.
We don’t go to church; we are the church!

Gifts ()

1 Peter 4:10–11 KJV 1900
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Romans 12:6–8 KJV 1900
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
1 Corinthians 12:4–10 KJV 1900
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
We are not saved by good works we are saved for good works.
Not only is God calling us to serve in his church, He is calling us to serve as His church.
Serving others in the church, also serving other outside the church.
What is you spiritual gift?

Ask yourself, “Am I more of a consumer or a contributor?”
Rather than seeing service as something that you do occasionally, what if you saw yourself as a servant?
