A Lesson On the Effects of Sin

Judges 19

I.            CIRCUMSTANCES REVOLVING AROUND AND LEADING UP TO THE ABOMINABLE CRIME.

            A. The concubine was sensually predisposed to rebellion.

1. Dissatisfied with a more wholesome life, went back to her pagan home and ways where she could play the harlot.

                        2. Her past life was incompatible to the Levites.

            B. The Levite Had No Business Pursuing Her. (He already had a wife)

            C. The tribe of Benjamin was disobedient to God, and tainted by the Jebusites.

                        1. They did not drive them out.  Judges 1:21

                        2. They learned the ways of Jebusites for 250+ years.

                        3. Judah could not drive them out because of Benjamin.  Joshua 15:8, 63

II.            LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM THIS BOOK.

            A. Separate yourself from the influence of sin.

            B. Realize that there is no neutral position.
