HEY, IS MY MIC ON? Psalm 5 1Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. 2Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. 3In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. 4For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; 6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest. 7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple. 8Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies—make your way straight before me. 9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. 10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. 11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. 12Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” 1- Ask early 2- Hate evil 3- Seek mercy 4- Live righteously 5- Find refuge ASK EARLY 3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Mark 1:35 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Ephesians 3:16 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” HATE EVIL 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong. 6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors. Romans 12:9 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Psalm 66:18-19 “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.” SEEK MERCY 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple. Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.” LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY 8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make straight your way before me. FIND REFUGE 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.
