Jesus just finished choosing His Squad

Now notice who Jesus picked
He didnt pick the best of the best
The creme of the crop
The fashionistas
The Modest
The Top rated, the REAL MVP’s
He picked Peter knowing he would one day deny and curse him
He picked James and John who were power hungry mommas boys
He picked Thomas who would doubt His Resurrection
He picked Matthew who didnt have a place in society
He picked Judas knowing he would betray Him
Church, what Jesus is doing in this chapter is not only showing us how different He is
But how willing He is to invest in people who are different than He is
Matthew 10:24
He needed Peter, to show how feeble we are and how faithful He is
He needed Thomas, to show how doubts are silenced by Faith
He needed Matthew, to show how Tax Collectors have a place in Gods Economy
He needed Judas, to show that Man can betray, but God Befriends.
Church, God has chosen to work through people, and not apart from people.
But for what purpose?
He could do things way better
Why would He include us?
He doesn’t need us?
He could build His Kingdom way better than us?
CHURCH, IT IS NOT THAT HE NEEDS US, IT’S THAT HE LOVES US
TO WORK WITH AND THROUGH HIS KIDS.
IF WE HAVE BEEN LOVED, THE BEST RECIPROCATION OF THAT LOVE IS OBEDIENCE
IT’S THAT HE WANTS
WHEN WE LOVE GOD BACK,
OBEDIENCE TO WHAT?
OBEDIENCE TO THE ONLY THING THAT BUILDS HIS KINGDOM

24 “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! 26 Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. 27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? Jesus is beginning to paint the picture of what the Disciples will encounter on the mission field
If you are a disciple of Jesus
A student of Jesus
One actively serving Jesus
Don’t think it strange when you are treated just like Jesus was treated
Don’t be shocked when the people that you thought were your peeps, who usher you in with palm frawns, turn their backs on you and yell “Crucify” Him.
If a Disciple is not greater than his teacher, Nor a slave greater than his master
Therefore, what makes us think we will be treated better than Jesus was treated?
What makes us think that we deserve to be treated better than Jesus was treated?
If they called Jesus, the master of the House of Satan
What makes us think that they wont call us Satanic
What makes us think that they wont misunderstand us
If we are in constant opposition to the nature of this world, what makes us think that the world will let us be?
We must remember that we are intrinsically different from this world
Jesus called us the salt of the earth
Jesus called us the light of the world
If our light is shinning in the dark places
The darkness flees because it doesn’t comprehend the light
The darkness of this world retreats from the light
But, when our light is dim, the darkness of this world puts up a fight.
Jesus says
Don’t fear those hating on you
Don’t fear those who are mistaking the light for darkness
Don’t fear those who misunderstand you
For there is nothing covered
Nothing that is in darkness
That won’t be revealed
There is nothing hidden
Nothing that you or this world is trying to cover up
That will not be made known
Notice that this is a general statement impacting both parties
The persecuted and the persecutor
It would be a shame for us To be preachers of righteousness
While living a life of sinfulnessIt would be sad for us
To fill our feeds with Christian Jargon
While Using our Social Media Facade to cover up our sinful nature.

THE REALITY IS: The more we conceal, the more we hide, the greater the facade, not only shows how sinful we are, but can also show how Mighty God is to Save.

We think that God’s will is not worth living for

When we diminish our self worth
Many think that this confession will usher in peace on earthBut the reality is that the confession of Jesus Christ will be more of a severing from the world than a union with the world.Your parents wont get itYour siblings wont get it Your enemies wont get itYour in laws wont get itAnd if you let them become the reason why you walk away from Jesus You are aligning yourself with the reality of verse 37You are saying that you are not worthy of JesusWhat does that mean?It means that when our love for people exceeds our love for Jesus, we are not deserving of being His Disciple. We are not worthy of being His student We are un deserving of what He has to offer usBetter yetIf you do not take up your cross and follow the example of ChristYou are undeserving of being his discipleYou are undeserving of being His studentHow can we make sense of this if God has called us to love people?Just like with any relationship, marriage, or friendshipYou will love people incorrectly if you dont realize how Christ has loved youYou will love selfishly if you love people according to how you have defined loveYou will love with the wront motives when you love people on your termsBUTWhen you have realized HOW you have been lovedGenerouslySelflesslySacrificiallyIt is then that you will know how to love with a Christ Like LoveIt is then you will have the right perspective when people wrong youIt is then that you will learn to love those whove betrayed youIt is then that you will be able to love unconditionally

And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

But not only that, the worth of the cross
It is imperative that we allow the greatest display of God’s Love, The Cross, to expel all fear and give you the greatest courage!
It is where your greatest value was proclaimed
It is where you were shown how loved you are
It is the place where God relegated himself for your sake
Because God values what Jesus did on the cross

OUR REPENTANCE USHERS IN HIS PRESENCE
IT IS THE RED CARPET THAT USHERS IN HIS FORGIVENESS
MAYBE TONIGHT WE HAVE BEEN LIVING IN THE COMFORT OF KNOWING THAT WE ARE SAVED
BUT UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT
