Matthew 25:34–41 NKJV
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
If you have ever flown you know about the safety message at the beginning
In years past it was given by stern faced flight attendants who literally held up the seat belt and demonstrated everything that you needed to know before you could be on your way to your destination.
But things have changed because on the majority of flights now its all done with a recorded video.
I sat next to a Haitian gentleman and he made a very keen observation...
How in the world can they be smiling ..... with what they are telling us
Let me explain. Hers what they say
A. They first tell us that there are several emergency exits but its our job to find them and then determine which one is the closest.
1. BTW if its dark we’ll turn on some tiny little lights on the floor
2. Of course you use these exits because they can’t open the door you came in.
3. And if this crash happens in water the ramp you slide on can become a raft.
4. They ask you if you are able to sit in the row whee these exits are… 45lbs
B. Theres also oxygen mask that will magically fall down from the ceiling just in case the air, from those tiny little outlets stops for some reason. That means you are trying to put one of these on while gasping for breath.
1. That little cup with the rubber bands that look a lot like the rubber bands that are on Halloween masks goes over your mouth
2. An just to freak you out the little bag is going to look uninflated.

C. Bracing for impact… I’ve seen planes crash in movies and they ain’t nobody following these instructions
1. Lean Forward… Hands on Head… Elbows on your thighs
D. But if you do crash in water every one is also given a life vest
1. Its in a pouch that nobody has every seen
2. It has two straps to hold it securely around your waist (Ever tried to adjust a life vest at the lake?)
3. Inflate by pulling the red cord… but just in case that doesn’t work… blow in the little tube
4. And for your protection they’ve attached a whistle to fend of the sharks.
Matt
1. In this passage it’s important for us to take notice that this is the only passage where Jesus directly calls Himself King.
2. It’s also important to look at this through the lens of Eschatology (The study of last things, final events)
To fully grasp this you have to see Jesus return after the 7 years of tribulation when as verse 31 says “He comes in His Glory”. This unique Judgement is for those who have come through the tribulation.
Even though its merits or standards are exclusively for that time they can clearly be applied to how we serve God.

A. God calls us to be a people who serve Him by serving others.

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

B. God is glorified buy how we treat the least in society.

C. There are rewards for those that are obedient to this principle.

I work for my rewards… not for my own glory… no I work so I can cast my rewards at feet of Jesus.
There is two clear objectives for 2018 that we are going to talk about over the next month
We must be obedient to give sacrificially to the work you have joined.
2. We must be obedient to reach the unchurched and lost
