Ro 3:21–4:25; Jas 2:14-26. Dan Kroon. Next Tuesday is the 500th anniversary of the Reformation (sparked by Luther’s 95 theses), and this Sunday is our opportunity to celebrate it together. So, in the middle of our series on the Five Solas, we turn to what is, arguably, the most reformational topic of all: faith and righteousness. Faith that trumps works. Faith that makes us right before God. Faith that justifies us. And to consider this topic we turn to one of the key books and key passages for the overall message: Romans 3:21–4:25. Here Paul gives us the incredible remedy for our universal sinfulness – salvation, by grace, in Christ, and through faith. God’s grace is the source (last week), Jesus Christ is the grounds (next week), and faith is the means (this week). And the end of it all? The glory of God (week five).
