For the past several weeks, we have been examining, to a small extent, the life, epiphany and impact of Martin Luther as we consider the Reformation in light of the 500 year anniversary of his posing of his 95 questions to the Church. The structure of our own denomination, the history of Western civilization and our most fundamentally held beliefs can be traced back to this amazing time in history. Not solely due to Luther’s challenges, but largely due to a very small group of folks who were unwilling to allow their upbringing or current reality to overshadow the questions they had regarding the rightness of how things were, our entire world is what it is. What a remarkable consideration. Are we people who would be willing to discard what we hold to be foundational truth if we were to have God shine His light of truth on us and reveal otherwise?
