BIG IDEA: God calls us to be generous in infinite ways so we can be generous with the gospel.

BIG IDEA: God's infinite generosity toward us leads us to being infinitely generous with our Time, Gifting, Resources, and Message

God was incomparably generous by sending Jesus

God was incomparably generous by sending Jesus

Colossians 1:19–20 ESV
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Colossians 1:19-20
Col
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Jesus who is the image of the invisible God existed with God for all of eternity
Jesus is fully God and decided to put on flesh and become fully man
Jesus experienced life exactly as we do yet He was without sin which is why this story of the gospel is so outrageous
When Christ made peace on the cross for our sin, all of the fullness of God became a sacrifice for all of the fullness of our sin.
We could never compete with the generosity with God, but God is our example of how we are called to live self sacrificially for others.

Rooted and Built up Christians are Generous with the Gospel

Because the Gospel is true, as Christians grow in their walk, they cant keep the good news in, and they establish faith in others.
Colossians 2:6–7 ESV
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
We root ourselves deep down in the Gospel, changing the lens by which we see all things, and when we have become so rooted in the gospel that our lives are being built up on its firm foundation, we go and spread the news that God takes the record of our debt and nails it to the cross!
Colossians 2:13–14 ESV
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Colossians 2:13-14
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Put off old self-centeredness and put on Christlikeness

As we continue to walk in Jesus, spreading the news about who He is and what He’s done, we continue to walk in Him by putting off the old self and setting our minds on the new creation that Christ has declared us to be.
How do we put off the old self?
I don't live there anymore
"For you have died" we no longer live in the old flesh ways
How do we put on the new self?
marinate in the goodness of the gospel
Take your eyes off yourself and get them up on the glory of Christ
Set your mind on things above where Christ is seated
Doing these things will make us a unified church, and it is the only way that we can walk forward, we must walk with the gospel fire burning in our souls.
Colossians 3:16 ESV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16
The word of Christ(Gospel) dwelling in us brings amazing unity to the church that Jesus himself so fervently prayed for in the last days of His life.
The word of Christ(Gospel) dwelling in us brings amazing unity to the church that Jesus himself so fervently prayed for in the last days of His life.
We must be ferocious in our desire for Christlikeness, and that leads us to being generous with our forgiveness in order to bring oneness.

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders by making the best use of your time

Colossians 4:5–6 ESV
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Colossians 4:5-6
Walk in wisdom toward outside
Walking in wisdom, and making the best use of our time are extremely important
But they are not solely for ourselves, we walk in wisdom TOWARD outsiders
God has been generous toward us, we become conduits for Gods generosity because Christ has a message for the world!
He wants to reveal Himself to others, but he has chosen to use us and in our weakness, he is seen as all the more powerful.

WHAT IS OUR VISION FOR THIS CHURCH?

We believe that our unique contribution to the Kingdom of God is to be a...
Gospel hub/ community center
This church building is not a clubhouse, it is a community hub for Gospel ministry
To have an understanding that it is a clubhouse only for members is a wrong "good ol boys" mentality, this tool is not for us! it is for those who are yet to come to faith.
This is not against incarnational ministry
We will reach the community around us through both pedals on the bike, groups in homes and gatherings in the building.
The kingdom of God has multiple strategies
I want to bring us in from the 30,000 to the 1,000 foot view
Stories of life change through a Gospel hub
In order to see some of those stories realized, we think it would be wise to have a completed tool.
God can do anything he wants, but we must not miss the miracle of the mundane, the ordinary means of Gospel influence.

HOW IS THE CHURCH CALLED TO BE GENEROUS?

Time, Gifting (not talent), resources, and MESSAGE! People forget that our biggest call as the church is to be generous with the message of the gospel.

TIME

If we have a night where kids from the neighborhood come to hang out, you can be used, make the best use of the time!

GIFTING

Everyone has gifting, this is why I don’t like the word talent, God gave you a gift, and this was not of your own doing, so it cant be just for you, your gifting is there to bring the kingdom of God to this earth, and you are called to use your gift no matter who you are!
If you need help discovering what your gifting is... Take discover Vista

RESOURCES

Now I want to bring us from the 1,000 foot view to the boots on the ground…
The fisher room
the auditorium
kid city

MESSAGE

Anything that we give in this offering is so that we can do more ministry to the world that desperately needs the gospel!

BIG IDEA: God's infinite generosity toward us leads us to being infinitely generous with our Time, Gifting, Resources, and Message
