God Moments...

In the busyness of our lives God steps in and does something absolutely amazing…
Often these are missed
We are too busy and look right past it
We become distracted
We simply are not looking for God to be a part of our lives
There was a moment in time, there was a God moment that went missed by many.
God stepped into time,
Quietly and oh so small
In a place obscured from the world
Caught many unaware though it had been foretold
As we look at the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ we see four ways one can respond to these God Moments...

1) We can miss it

What a shame that we could miss out on God working
Our cares and concerns are so wrapped up in this life we miss what God has in store!
Many in that day 2000 years ago were too focused on their own lives
They had lost their focus on God,
They were looking for God to do what they wanted rather than looking at what God wanted…
If your looking in the wrong place you wont be seeing Him work!

2) We can allow those God moments to create heart reflection

Luke 2:19 Mary pondered these things...
Luke 2:19 NASB95
19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
When you see God work… you wont always be able to figure it out
Allow for time to reflect, ponder, we serve a great God
Allow in those moments God to work in you first.

3) We can make it known

God had made known to the shepherds… Luke 2:15
Luke 2:15 NASB95
15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.”
They were doing their job, away from the craziness, and God made this known to them
They didn't want to miss this!!!
They saw God’s work, a baby in a manger wrapped in cloths!
Emmanuel… God with us
They heard God’s message Luke 2:10-14
Luke 2:10–14 NASB95
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
Consider also what they did with this God Moment… They shared it! Luke 2:17-18
Luke 2:17–18 NASB95
17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.

4) Verse 18 is the forth response… No Action!

We see amazement
We see that they even listen to the shepherds
But what do they do?
It does not lead to heart reflection
It does not lead to sharing
May the birth of Jesus never be for us something we are amazed with, love hearing at Christmas services
But then go on with our life as if nothing really happened… busyness, gifts, parties, dinners...
Ask men to come forward for communion...

Pause… consider what you are hearing… consider the message, a Savior is born… Don’t miss this God moment!

As we take time to remember the birth of our Savior we also want to remember why He is our Savior…

He gave his life, He shed His blood
I don’t think it is coincidence that God initially used shepherds to PROCLAIM the precious Lamb of God
