Introduction

The New Year is always a great time to refocus on what is important and talk about goals, so for the next few weeks we are going to talk about goals I believe God is leading us to as a youth ministry. These may be obvious to all of you, but what I hope it does is help YOU to REFOCUS on these goals and find your place in completing these goals as an individual for the better of the whole of the youth group.

Body

What is the church?

The gathering of the body of Christ—people who have put their faith in Him.

Two main functions of the church

Meet together regularly for the building up and encouragement of the faith of the people.
Take the Good News of Jesus to the ends of the earth, locally, nationally, and globally.

Teenagers as a part of the church

God has always had in mind for generations to worship Him together.
Teenagers are important to God, and He has provided the church to help you in your journey with Him.
Youth ministry is here to help you be a part of the congregation as a whole, not to take you out of the congregation.

Main Idea: God made the church for EVERYONE, including teenagers.

Conclusion

While the church is more than the worship service, the worship service is one of the few times we all gather together to worship the Lord, so attending it should be a priority for every believer who attends the church.

What will we do to help?

Provide rides
Personally invite your parents
Provide opportunities for your parents to get plugged in to our church

Response

How involved is your family in a local church? Do you feel like you and your family need to be more or less involved?
What’s one goal you can set to make sure you worship God with multiple generations?
How can we as a youth ministry help you get here on Sunday mornings?
