Arise and Go
Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert.
So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.

The Angel of the Lord spoke
Phillip was in position to hear from the Lord
So he arose and went
He moved when the Lord said -
Are you ready to act when the Lord directs?
A lot of people don’t get directions, because they aren’t willing to follow.
If you won’t go across the street to talk to your neighbor, why would God send you to the king or some famous person?
The Ethiopian Eunuch
A man of great authority
reports directly to the Queen
Ethiopia was a prominent place at the time
This person had substantial influence
He was in charge of all the Queen’s money
And he had came to Jerusalem to Worship
He was reading the book of Isaiah
Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
Do you understand what you read?
He replied “How can I, unless someone guides me”
The world is full of too many people that think they know it all
As great as this man was, he understood his need fo reachers, advisers, counselors
too many people think they don’t need any advice, or correction, or guidance
that kind of thinking is foolishness -
Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.
This man was seeking God, reading the Word
And wise enough to know he also needs guidance
The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.”
So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?”

Phillip began to preach Jesus to him
This is the message of Acts, and of every book of the bible - Jesus
This is Isaiah chapter 53 he was reading from. Jesus was the Messiah who suffered for His people
Phillip was able to explain how that Jesus Christ fulfilled these prophesies
For the transgressions of His people was He stricken
He that knew no sin was made sin for us
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

He was made an offering for our sin
He shall justify many
For He shall bear their iniquities
There must be payment for our sins
This knowledge is inside of all of us
Yet it is a debt no one can pay
Therefor He bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors
Jesus Christ made intercession for the “transgressors”
Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners!
God saw and was satisfied - Divided the portion with the great
Given Him a name above every name!
Jesus rose from the dead, and now offers us the right to rise forever with Him
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.
30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

The Message of Acts a. Philip Meets the Ethiopian (8:27–29)
It seems unlikely that he was a Gentile, since Luke does not present him as the first Gentile convert; that distinction he reserves for Cornelius. He regards the Ethiopian’s conversion rather as another example of the loosening of bonds with Jerusalem (foreseen by Stephen in his speech) and of the liberation

When Jesus took our sins - we became righteousness in Him
We can now come boldly to the throne of grace - no longer kept out be the veil
no longer help back by sin
We can come into the presence of God - through Jesus Christ - through faith in His name
So many of us believe this for our salvation but stop there
All of the blessings of God are received through faith
If you believe that you sins have truly been taken away -
then you can pray with the same faith as Elijah, Elisha, Moses, or David
You can come to God in full confidence believing Him, not only for salvation, but for all your needs
acts8.36-38
36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
If You Believe with all your heart
He desired to baptised and asked what was the condition
this is the only condition - you must believe
This is the condition for our salvation
Also for everything we receive from God - that You believe
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
When we truly believe, it affects every area of our lives.
I couldn’t help but be changed - once I believed
Why not believe even more
So much that when He speaks we will
Arise and Go!
