“THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE”

QUESTION:
Why study the Bible?
Why study the Bible more than any other Religious book?
bible verse:
2 Timothy 3:14–17 ESV
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2nd Timothy
Tonight we will be dealing with two concepts:
The Authority of Scripture
The benefits of Scripture
Concept 1:
The first deals with the Authority of Scripture.
verse 15- “HOLY SCRIPTURES”
Scriptures
Scripture has been given by God to lead people to faith and salvation. Through Scripture believers are nurtured in faith and led to spiritual maturity.
This makes the Bible something worthwhile to study and makes its content important.
In addition to that gives us the necessary information to deal with the rising question of the validity of the Bible as the Word of God.
Definition of Holy is: to separate from.
Holy scripture : set apart
Holy is a special word- we don’t use it as much it describes something or someone who is consecrated. to a special purpose.
