Galatians 2:2 NLT
I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. While I was there I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared with them the message I had been preaching to the Gentiles. I wanted to make sure that we were in agreement, for fear that all my efforts had been wasted and I was running the race for nothing.
Steadfast
fixed in direction; steadily directed:a steadfast gaze.
2.firm in purpose, resolution, faith, attachment, etc., as a person:a steadfast friend.
3.unwavering, as resolution, faith, adherence, etc.
4.firmly established, as an institution or a state of affairs.
5.firmly fixed in place or position.
Have you ever felt that what you are doing spiritually was for nothing? I think we’ve all been there. In this verse, Paul consulting with the apostles in Jerusalem about whether they were going to require the Gentile believers to become circumsised or not. Because if there were it was going to make the message of grace he had been preaching useless. Or that he would have been running his “race for nothing”. All the effort he had put into reaching the gentiles was going to be for nothing.

I know many times when we pray, because we don’t see immediate results we assume that what we are doing is having no effect. It’s useless and for nothing. It’s certainly in these times that we must remain steadfast.
Steadfast means to endure. A steadfast person is reliable, faithful and true to the end. Paul said that Jesus was this type of person.
Romans 15:3–4 NLT
For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.” Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
1 Corinthians 15:58 AMP
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].
Colossians 4:2 AMP
Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alert and intent in [your praying] with thanksgiving.
