Red ropes....Some only believe God when things are going well. They confuse positive thinking with real active faith.
Unrestricted faith is that kind of faith that is immovable in the face of trials and persecution.
1 Thessalonians 3:1–8 NCV
1 When we could not wait any longer, we decided it was best to stay in Athens alone 2 and send Timothy to you. Timothy, our brother, works with us for God and helps us tell people the Good News about Christ. We sent him to strengthen and encourage you in your faith 3 so none of you would be upset by these troubles. You yourselves know that we must face these troubles. 4 Even when we were with you, we told you we all would have to suffer, and you know it has happened. 5 Because of this, when I could wait no longer, I sent Timothy to you so I could learn about your faith. I was afraid the devil had tempted you, and perhaps our hard work would have been wasted. 6 But Timothy now has come back to us from you and has brought us good news about your faith and love. He told us that you always remember us in a good way and that you want to see us just as much as we want to see you. 7 So, brothers and sisters, while we have much trouble and suffering, we are encouraged about you because of your faith. 8 Our life is really full if you stand strong in the Lord.
1 Thess 3:1-7

1. Expect Future Persecution Because Of Your Faith in Christ.

(v3) Paul was not satisfied to just get people saved but he wanted to see them not get “upset by these troubles.”
Unless you are established in the Lord, you will be upset by the devil!
v4 - Paul warned the church “get ready”/ “brace for it”/”I told you so” [NKJV -suffer tribulation = Thlipsis a serious test - unavoidable and part of the life]
Only a mature church can handle this prophetic warning - immature retreat and back away from God because they don’t want to go through.
They still go through, just without faith and without community - THIS IS SATAN’S TRAP
v5 - “the tempter, will tempt” - Trails are certain BUT OUR RESPONSE IS NOT! ///// wrongly vs wisely
“the tempter, will tempt”

2. Every Word Preached Is For The Building Up Of Your Faith.

(v5) While in Athens, Pau was troubled by the spiritual welfare of Thessalonica
He sent Timothy (spiritual son) to minister to them:
a. Learn of your faith. Ginosko (know in this moment in time).
Where is your faith, in this moment in time?
b. To avoid their labor being in vain! It is hard to move a church to a new level of faith, where the word is forgotten or not applied. Every word applies to YOU. Every Sunday.
to them “to avoid their labor being in vain!”
Every word applies to YOU. Every Sunday.
Block by block the the Word of God BUILDS UP YOUR FAITH until your faith becomes unrestricted by trouble.
It is hard to move a church to a new level of faith, wher
The preached Word builds your faith Block by block until your faith becomes unrestricted by trouble:
Unrestricted faith is built:
a. By the pastor.
2 Corinthians 10:8 NCV
It is true that we brag freely about the authority the Lord gave us. But this authority is to build you up, not to tear you down. So I will not be ashamed.
??building?===> you became a home for the Word [oikodome]
Ephesians 4:29 ESV
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
c. By yourself.
C. By yourself.
Jude 19–20 ESV
It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 1:

3. Remove The Red Ropes From Your Faith By Embracing A Word Life.

(v6) Timothy bring back good news about their faith - that they are standing strong (v8).
(v6) Timothy bring back good news about their faith - that they are standing strong (v8).
There are many weak in the faith because they refuse to apply and abide by the word of God in every situation.
The power of the Word is activated by your faith :
Hebrews 4:2 NCV
The Good News was preached to us just as it was to them. But the teaching they heard did not help them, because they heard it but did not accept it with faith.
Faith waters, the word seed, in your soil
You can’t wrestle, doubt, you must accept God’s word above opinion, culture and experience.
Your faith increases by having regular exposure to the preached word:
Romans 10:17
Romans 10:17 NKJV
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 4:2 ESV
For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.

4. Let’s Allow Our Unrestricted Faith To Be An Encouragement To Others Who Are Going Through Trouble.

(v7) “in all of our distress - we were encouraged”
There is nothing more contagious than faith.
As a pastor, Paul is encouraged by the faith of the congregation because Timothy has confirmed they could suffer well.
Thessalonica was like the saints I grew up with who meant it when they sang “I will trust in the Lord!”
