TOOTHPASTE EXPERIMENT W/ TWO STUDENTS
2 Tubes of Toothpaste, 2 Paper Plates, 2 Small Tables, 2 Students
Instructions: “Write a word with toothpaste, whoever has the best looking word wins!”
Takeaway: Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, you can’t get it back in. Just like our words!

In the military, “Got your six” means “I’ve got your back.” The saying originated with World War I fighter pilots referencing a pilot’s rear as the six o’clock position.
What does having someone’s back mean to you?

Peter’s words are easy to say because he didn’t understand the sacrifice it would take to cover his brother’s back.
It’s easy for us to say, I got your back to your friend…but what about when your friend isn’t with you. Do favor yourself over your friend?

I was always encouraged when I came to church. People would tell me how good I dressed, or how talented I am…I always left church feeling encouraged.

It’s easy to want people to treat you right, it’s hard to treat others right.
Jesus says...”narrow is the the gate” - that means not everything can come through that gate. You’re not going to bring everything you want through the gate.

Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” Now the servants and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.

What does perfectly one look like?
1936 OLYMPICS
Jesse Owens seemed sure to win the long jump at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Germany. Just the year before, he had set three world records in one day. He was the record holder for the running broad jump with 26 feet 8 1/4 inches—a record that would stand for 25 years.
As he walked to the long jump pit, however, Owens saw a tall, blue-eyed, blond German taking practice jumps in the 26 foot range. Owens was nervous. He was aware of the tension created with his presence. He knew the Nazis' desire was to prove Aryan "superiority," especially over the blacks.
The pressure was overwhelming, and on his first jump Owens inadvertently leaped from several inches beyond the takeoff board. Rattled, he fouled on the second attempt, too. He was only one foul away from being eliminated.
At this point, the tall German approached Owens and introduced himself as Luz Long. Then an amazing event took place. The black son of a sharecropper and the white model of Nazi manhood chatted in view of the entire stadium. What were they talking about?
Since the qualifying distance was only 23 feet 5 1/2 inches, Long suggested making a mark several inches before the takeoff board and jumping from there, just to play it safe. Amazing! At the beginning of World War II, this model of Germany's strength was providing technical assistance and words of encouragement to a foe both on and off the field.
Owens qualified easily. In the finals, he set an Olympic record and earned the second of four gold medals during the 1936 Olympics. The first person to congratulate Owens was Luz Long—in full view of Adolf Hitler.
Owens never saw Long again, for Long was killed in World War II. "You could melt down all the medals and cups I have," Owens later wrote, "and they wouldn't be plating on the 24-carat friendship I felt for Luz Long."
We may not look the same, like the same things, go to the same school…be we are all bound together by the same thing - JESUS
