The recent rise in gasoline prices has brought back memories of the first major energy crisis the U.S. faced in 1979. Because motorists didn't know what the future held, they began "topping off" their gas tanks at every opportunity. That practice only led to longer lines at gas stations and was strongly discouraged by officials.

While "topping off" might be discouraged in terms of a limited natural resource, it is strongly encouraged when talking about an infinite supernatural resource. Christians should be in the habit of daily topping off their spiritual fuel reserves by spending time with God. The only way to make sure we don't get caught without power and strength is to stay "topped off" on a daily basis. That means taking time for daily Bible reading and study, prayer and worship, and spiritual conversation and encouragement with others. There are no long lines when it comes to meeting with God. You are free to "top off" any time, any place.

If your spiritual tank is nearing empty, renew your commitment to meet with God on a daily basis to be refreshed and refueled.

How often do we need to see God's face, hear His voice, feel His touch, know His power? The answer to all these questions is the same: Every day!
