Review #2

Life Verse:
Philippians 2:5 NKJV
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
2. Summary
Life long objective: Christ being part of your life, you will live in peace with freedom from the control of sin. As you seek His kingdom, you will be developing Christ’s desires within you transforming your desires with His desires.
The process of transformation of your desires to line up with His desires facilitate the work of God in you. God works through transformation that takes place in you.
Growth is attainable only if you allow God take hold of your life and change it for His glory and it starts by seeking His kingdom.
Seeking His kingdom is a decision you have to make as a response to the Holy Spirit convicting you to do so.
3. Day #1
Learned about a disordered mind.
What does a disordered mind lead to?
Mental conflicts produce a disordered mind which eventually give fruit to a disordered life because of the conflicting desires.
4. Day #2
We learned what dominates a disordered mind and an ordered mind. Disordered mind by the FLESH and an ordered mind by the SPIRIT.
Ordered mind leads to Godly living
Disordered mind leads to ungodly living
Page.38, 2nd par.: An ordered mind, like the mind of Christ, must be controlled by the will. You must make MENTAL decisions concerning what you think about. You need to reach that point where you decide against a disordered mind.
Reminded to continue working on your list of desires.
5. Day #3
In an exercise we were ask to identify conflicts in our list.
Key Concept: What Christ is doing in you. Read par. below #4 in page 40.
In the process of transformation the FREE WILL that God gave us is still in effect. He will not force you to change. He will not violate your will. You MUST CHOSE to be involved in the process. After all it is you that need to change.
6. Day #4
We were introduce to 17 virtues starting with the list in
James 3:17 NASB95
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
These virtues gives us a preview of the mind of Christ.
We also learned more virtues of Chris found in which completes the 17 virtues.
There was a comparison of the different virtues listed from the two references.
Virtues in James are adjectives
Virtues in Galatians are nouns.
How do we integrated these virtues?
Each virtues complements and even increases the power of the others.
Your life will be glorious if all these virtues will be in harmony with one another.
The INTEGRATION of the virtues:
apply each adjective from those of James to the nouns in Galatians.
7. DAy #5
Learned about Christ one great passion: DOING THE FATHER’s WILL, this pleases the FATHER
References:
Luke 2:49 NASB95
And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?
John 4:34 NASB95
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
John 6:38 NASB95
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Learned how to over come weakness: “FIX MY WANTER” pg.47
How to overcome? Realizing and applying the truths in scripture addressing this issue:
Sin shall not master over you. This includes your mind!
Sin is not to have dominion over you. As a believer in Christ you are not under the LAW but under GRACE. (Explain)
MASTERY OVER MIND CANNOT BE DONE BY WILLPOWER BUT BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - by HIS GRACE.
Zechariah 4:6 NASB95
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.
Need to pray and ask God to help you overcome.
God helps us using His Word to direct us. In the case of the author, God used
Matthew 6:33 NASB95
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
As your approach each situation in life you have to “seek ye first the kingdom..” What is the “heavenly” way of dealing with it.
As you start approaching situations in life this way starts happening in your life.
Romans 12:2 NASB95
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:23
Question: HOW COULD YOU LIVE IN A WAY THAT INDICATES YOUR ARE “SEEKING THE KINGDOM?” (page 48)
Choose to deny self and follow Christ.
Memorize and ask God to do what is necessary to help you live that way.
Matthew 6:33 NASB95
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
3. Pray to seek God’s guidance and follow it rather than doing only what you think you ought to do without any guidance from Him.
4. Ask God how to use excess money rather than buying things you want but don’t really need and having little left for Kingdom work.
5. Choose to follow God’s desires rather than your desires.
6. Rush away from temptations, impure thoughts, and lust and focus on godly living, righteousness, and pure thoughts.
