Intro:

Bowl 1: Boils upon Men

Revelation 16:1–2 ESV
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.” 2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
How is this similar to ?
Exodus 9:8–12 ESV
8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” 10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses threw it in the air, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. 11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses.
Time- poured out on those with the mark so mid to late Trib. Most who view this literally put it in the last 3.5 years
AC and his false prophet start easy and peaceful
At the midway point is when he unveils the worst.
Recipients- those who have the mark
those who have sworn allegiance to /worshiped the AC

Bowl 2: Seas turn to blood

Revelation 16:3 ESV
3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea.
Seas turn to blood and all life dies
Red tide- This is a possible mechanism
looks blood red and releases toxins which can kill
In this bowl, entire sea is read and life dies.
catastrophic failure of environment.

Bowl 3: Rivers turn to blood

Revelation 16:4–7 ESV
4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel in charge of the waters say, “Just are you, O Holy One, who is and who was, for you brought these judgments. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!” 7 And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, Lord God the Almighty, true and just are your judgments!”
Rev 16:
Compare to
Exodus 7:17–21 ESV
17 Thus says the Lord, “By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood. 18 The fish in the Nile shall die, and the Nile will stink, and the Egyptians will grow weary of drinking water from the Nile.” ’ ” 19 And the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, so that they may become blood, and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’ ” 20 Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded. In the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants he lifted up the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the water in the Nile turned into blood. 21 And the fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
Completing a knockout combination the ocean (salt water) and rivers (fresh water) are hit with being turned to blood. (Either literal or appearing as blood)
Do the people deserve this?
Revelation 16:6 ESV
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”
God directly punishes them for shedding the blood of saints and prophets.

Bowl 4: Scorching heat of the sun.

Revelation 16:8–9 ESV
8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.
Real global warming without question!
Sun burns brighter with more heat
With the solar system’s furnace turned up, the climate will be torture
They should repent, but instead, notice v. 9.
Revelation 16:9 ESV
9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.
They acknowledge it is God, but curse Him rather than repenting

Bowl 5: Darkness

Revelation 16:10–11 ESV
10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.
: 10-11
What do the following verses say about the darkness?
Amos 5:18 ESV
18 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! Why would you have the day of the Lord? It is darkness, and not light,
Nahum 1:6–8 ESV
6 Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him. 7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. 8 But with an overflowing flood he will make a complete end of the adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
Zephaniah 1:15 ESV
15 A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anguish, a day of ruin and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
Mark 13:24 ESV
24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,
Amos

Bowl 6: Euphrates dries up.

Revelation 16:12–16 ESV
12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. 14 For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. 15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) 16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
Rev 16:
This opens the path for Armageddon
The natural boundary between Asia and Israel will be dried up making it easier for the armies of earth to gather for the final battle.
They will start focused on each other but will be defeated by God.

Bowl 7: The wrath of God

Revelation 16:17–21 ESV
17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.
Rev 16:17
Notice the scope according to 15:1
Revelation 15:1 ESV
1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.
This finishes the wrath of God
Earthquake:
Isaiah 40:4–5 ESV
4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. 5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Hail
Ezekiel 28:22–23 ESV
22 and say, Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, and I will manifest my glory in your midst. And they shall know that I am the Lord when I execute judgments in her and manifest my holiness in her; 23 for I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets; and the slain shall fall in her midst, by the sword that is against her on every side. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 38:22–23 ESV
22 With pestilence and bloodshed I will enter into judgment with him, and I will rain upon him and his hordes and the many peoples who are with him torrential rains and hailstones, fire and sulfur. 23 So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.

Conclusion:

As Jonathan Edwards said, “It is a terrible thing of rsinners to fall into teh hands of an angry GOd!
As believers, we aren’t objects of God’s wrath., but we do face discipline.
