20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Kingdom Parable. Yeast
33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”
Yeast is seen often in scripture as a negative thing.
7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?
8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
Life as a race.
Running in our lane. - Gifts abilities. Authority.
Listen to what Paul says about the effect of sin and life.
A little yeast works through the whole batch.
Jesus prayer.
15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
We are not to be taken out of the world - but the world needs to be taken out of us.
Our protection - Walk with the father. - Protection from the evil one.
Sanctified - by Truth - we are not made better by living in a lie.
Not of the world - we belong to a different kingdom.
We are sent to the world - mission.
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Salt and Light. Both have an effect on the enviroment that they are in.
Walk in light by following the light.
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Light shine before men
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
