Last week in our study of Daniel.
We will end on chapter 7
Encourage you to continue reading the last few chapters on your own.
Daniel is applicable to us today.
Daniel is a book that provides a message of hope to it’s audience in Daniel’s day, but for us as well.
Message is timeless.
Let’s read in Daniel 7
Daniel 7
Vs 1 - 8 - Concern prophecy.
Prophecy is intentionally vague.
Please stand - read vs 9-14
What can we know for certain based on the text?
World news can be troubling
Daniel was troubled by his dreams and what he saw?
Vs 15 - “My spirit was anxious, and the visions of my head alarmed me.”
We can have the same reaction to our current events.
Anxiety, stress, worry, etc...
Vs 28 - “My thoughts greatly alarmed me, and my color changed.”
Should we be alarmed?
Slide: NO - God is on His throne.
God is, presently, on His throne!
This is the vision that Daniel had.
Look at the description of God’s throne room.
Vs 9-11
We might have pain but we should not panic b/c God.
We might get fearful, but we should never be frantic.
God is reigning.
Nothing has changed.
The focus on the throne is not accidental.
We should have our eyes fixed on God’s throne instead of focusing/obsessing over world events.
Check out vs 11-12, God sits in judgment.
Remember who holds the future!
Slide: Jesus rules!
Jesus rules!
Vs 13 - 14
Jesus shows up in the book of Daniel
Called the Son of Man here, called himself the Son of Man when he was on earth and on trial.
Jesus, here, is claiming he is the Son of Man in Daniel 7.
The leaders would know the reference and what follows.
Read: Verse 14
The nations are his inheritance!
He has all power and dominion.
His kingdom shall never pass away.
What is the take away for us?
Slide: Jesus is our hope!
Jesus is our hope!
The solution to the worlds problems cannot be found in a government, a political party, a new law, etc...
Jesus alone is our solution.
Jesus is our hope.
He is the hope of the world.
Do you believe it?
Have you told anyone?
When you have anxieties or your thoughts greatly alarm you, where do you fix your eyes?
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and don’t be distracted by peripheral.
