Your Favorite Super Hero?

So guys I like super heroes! Mainly the Marvel one! Do I have any Marvel fans in here! Yeah! That’s what I thought! DCs good too, alright, ok… fair… Definitely not as good as Marvel, except for Batman! Batman is the only this they have going for them!
Anyway, anyway, enough with the booing! Do any of you have a favorite super hero?
You like Captain America
You like Iron Man
You like Superman?? Yuck...
You like Thor… yeah my man!
I have a favorite super hero too, it Thor! Dude got super strength, lightening powers, and a large hammer axe that can summon the bifrost now! Dude its so cool! I hope I am not spoiling anything for ya’ll but ya’ll familiar with the new movie Avengers: Infinity Wars? What about the scene when they are all fighting against the black order (those gross monster looking things)? Yeah! There was this point in the movie where they seemed to have been losing, that their forces against these alien monsters were going to be overwhelmed, but in the nic of time, Thor shows up on the scene, lightening bolts going everywhere and he yells, “Give me Thanos!!!” Big purple rinkly chin dude! It was like the most epic scene I have ever witnessed! It moments like these in super hero movies that give us hope! There is this major conflict that causes a ton of horrible things to go on and when it seems all hope is lost here comes the hero, to save the day.

The Super Hero Story of Life

I have a super hero story of myself to tell you all a super hero story!
In the beginning of time there was creation! There was the Creator and there was creation! Out of all creation the Creator had made, it was mankind He valued the most, however out of all creation something dreadful would eventually befall mankind! Because within all of creation there arose a deceiver, that looked like a vicious snake. His desire was to hurt the Creator and while he knew he could never really hurt the Creator, he could however hurt the creation - and what better way to hurt the Creator then hurt His most prized possession! And like any good villan’s back story the enemy wasn’t all that bad before... He used to work for the Creator having powers of light, He used to be one of the Creator’s most powerful soldiers. But one day the enemy thought to himself, “What am I doing here in this position? I should be like the Creator, I should sit on the same throne He sits in. I am in fact one of the mightiest beings there are! I deserve to rule! I was made for it! He was so convinced and his argument so well crafted that He convinced a third of the Creator’s soldiers! Then the enemy and his rogue soldiers made a mad rush for the throne, the Creator looked at the enemy and his forces. He saw their desperate and arrogant dash for His throne. The Creator, who once saw His chief commander and a third of His armies as His friends and beloved creation, now counted them as enemies to the throne, Treasonous criminals! And with the snap of His fingers and the Power of the Word spoken through His mouth! He cast the enemy and His rogue army out of the heavenly realms making him fall like lightening to earth.” So the enemy, the snake, dripping with deception ever since set his gaze on mankind. And one day He convinced mankind to unleash the most evil and damning disease they would ever face! It brought illness, it made there minds like that of the enemies, it wrought them to murder each other, it caused suffering, sorrow, hopelessness, and yes it ultimately caused death! Not just any death, but death that reoccured over and over and over again!
Hope was lost, there wasn’t a cure, nothing would help them now, death was inevitable! However, there were murmurings of an antidote throughout history that could cure their disease! But it meant a dreadful price would have to be paid for it and a mighty feat would have to conquer the dreadful consequence of the price!
The price for the antidote was a sacrifice! Someone laying down their life! But not just anyone someone who was wasn’t infected by the disease, someone who was perfect, someone whom the Creator delighted in, someone whom is One with the Creator!
As the murmurings, the whisperings, and hints would continue for hundreds of years, people became sceptical, giving up hope that they could ever be cured! For who among them could be spotless of the disease, perfect, favored by the Creator, One with the Creator, and then after all that make the sacrifice. Such a man wouldn’t deserve to pay a price! And even if He paid the price how could He even conquer death! No man can do that! Death is final! It doesn’t show mercy, we deteriorate, then we close our eyes never to open them again! Non has the strength!
However as the days were passing each filled with just as much disease ridden death as the other the day grew closer when the Creator would look down on His beloved creation, as corrupt as they were, and would send the Hero they didn’t deserve. One who was immune to the disease, who was perfect, Who could and would make that sacrifice! But here’s the kicker, He was a prince, the heir to the throne, He was the Creator’s Son! Yet He was willing pay the price because He too had just as much compassion on the diseased ridden creation as His Father! He and His Father always knew He was the cure to it all and had decided the day that disease spread throughout all creation what they would have to one day do to bring it back to the place it once was. So they would wait until the appointed time. When that day had finally come the Father told the spotless Prince it is your time to go to them and save them. With a Solomn face He went to them, He was disgized in the creation’s likeness. He looked just like everyone else. However although the prince looked like everyone else everything about Him was different, the diseased creation started to see the difference! It convicted them. And once the disease took ahold of the hearts of man it told them to kill the spotless prince! They deemed Him a criminal in their murderous hearts, they took Him to the place were they had killed so many, and treated Him to the worst torcher imaginable. Then they nailed him to a tree, lifted him up and mocked saying, “If you’re the Prince the, Creator’s Son, take yourself come down from there. You will die just like any other man and just stay in the grave, whre you will see decay!”
Then as time grew dim and dark and it was time the the Prince the Son of the Creator said, “It is finish!” And breathed His last, “HHHHHSSSHSHSSS.”
And at once when the breath left the Prince’s lungs, the earth trembled and the sky thundered. Those around who witnessed the death of the Prince trembled and were afraid! Some of those around had said, “Surely this was the Son of the Creator!”
“Was it possible,” some had wondered, “that that this was the Son of the Creator” Why would He die? How and why would He give himself up to death…“
However, although the Prince gave himself up to death He wouldn’t stay there for long. After three days He arose from death defeating it! Then sometime afterward He ascended into the heavenly realms, returning to His righthand seat beside His Father and said it is done! They now have a way to the cure the antidote! Away from the disease and death! For I Am the antidote. Some will choose to take it and be cured and some will choose to stay in their state disease and death.
The Father turning to His Son the Prince said, there is coming a day where we will make everything anew and will wipe out every disease, every suffering, and I will put death death!
Sound like a story you know? What happens if I told you that this story is true? What happens if I told you that you are the ones with the disease? Would you take the antidote? It’s all here in God’s Word, the prescription to make us clean from the disease. You see death is inevitable for us all; because you wanna know why? This disease that I just told you about is called sin. We all were born into it, you were born into it, I was born into it, your parents were born into it. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! That means there is this mark that God has, and its a pretty high mark. If you want to be right with God you have to meet that mark. Oh and by the way if you already messed up and sinned there is no redos. You had one chance you sinned and now its over, you cant make yourself right with God any longer. Scripture goes on to say that the wages of sin is death… Sounds scary right. Death is not something we like to talk about but inevitably it awaits us all! My research suggest this, that 100 out of 100 will die, if go a little higher a billion out of a billion will inevitably will die! You are going to die, but the death that this part of scripture is talking about isn’t physical death. Some of you might wipe the sweat from you’re forehead and say, “Whew!” It’s talking about something scarier and its so much worse. It’s what comes after physical death. What I am talking about is called hell and it lasts for all eternity. Basically when the Bible says the wages of sin is death, its saying that this sin nature that we all are diseased with, buys us non-else then hell for all eternity and there the sin ridden will burn for all eternity! It’s a hard pill to swallow. You might say, “Cody, why in the world would God send His beloved creation to that place, why can’t He just do something to cleanse us from our sin nature?”
But He has, although scripture gives that the wages of sin is death, it gives that the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. And reading more of scripture we read that, “God so loved the World...” That God loved us so much to send His Son Jesus Christ down into the World, Isaiah gives that He looked just like everyone else, and that He lived a perfect life. God sent His perfect Son to die for us. Jesus came to this sin ridden world, lived a perfect life, and then died a brutal death on our behalf paying the price for any who would come and follow Him, and then rose again over death conquering it! So that you and I could be saved and made adopted sons and daughters of God.
Let me tell you this, we all are not saved in this room, we all are not followers of Jesus Christ, that means if some of us would die some would go to hell for all eternity. There’s a way for you to be saved. I’m going to want every eye on me at this point no distractions! This is extremely serious! If you want to be saved listen up. God’s Word say in Romans, “For if you confess with your mouth...” Aka that’s when you make Jesus your Lord the boss and ruler of your life. When you say, “Lord everything that I am is yours!” Now listen that also means you repent of your sins that you agree to God that you aren’t for your sins anymore that you will turn away from them, that you will run away from from them, and turn and run to following Jesus. Jesus is the only one that can save you. There is no other way! Jesus Christ, “Said I am the way…” meaning He is the only way to God to being made right with God! No works or the good things you do will make you get to heaven! When you are saved by the sacrifices of Jesus you God doesn’t see your sin anymore but the righteousness of His Son (the goodness and perfectness) of His Son resting on you - (there is a lot of theology there that I don’t have time to explain). What that means is that you are washed clean in the sight of God from your sins!
So if you want to be saved, if you want give your life to the Lord. I want every eye closed every head bowed....
Leaders I want you take your kids aside and go ahead and talk with them…
