We are in week 6 of our exploring prayers that lead to personal revival!!!
I hope by this point that you are seeing God begin to bring life into your spirit.
I need a REVITALIZATION in my spirit man - the realization of our need for Christ in a greater way in our lives
I need to REPENT of secret sin, recompense where possible, and forgive others of sin committed against me.
I need a RESTORATION of my love for God’s Word.
I need a RELEASE of your Holy Spirit and power in my life.
I need to RETURN to my first my love - Jesus, and love my family.
This week 6 :
I need a REMEMBRANCE and thanksgiving for all Christ has done for me!!!!
Joshua 4:1–11 NLT
When all the people had crossed the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Now choose twelve men, one from each tribe. Tell them, ‘Take twelve stones from the very place where the priests are standing in the middle of the Jordan. Carry them out and pile them up at the place where you will camp tonight.’ ” So Joshua called together the twelve men he had chosen—one from each of the tribes of Israel. He told them, “Go into the middle of the Jordan, in front of the Ark of the Lord your God. Each of you must pick up one stone and carry it out on your shoulder—twelve stones in all, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.” So the men did as Joshua had commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan River, one for each tribe, just as the Lord had told Joshua. They carried them to the place where they camped for the night and constructed the memorial there. Joshua also set up another pile of twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, at the place where the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant were standing. And they are there to this day. The priests who were carrying the Ark stood in the middle of the river until all of the Lord’s commands that Moses had given to Joshua were carried out. Meanwhile, the people hurried across the riverbed. And when everyone was safely on the other side, the priests crossed over with the Ark of the Lord as the people watched.
Here is this awesome story of Israel having the waters part to cross into the PROMISES OF GOD on dry land.
It was a moment in life that God showed up and did a miraculous thing -showing His power and making a way!!!
The command came forth to build a memorial of stones (you wonder where we get the idea of making memorial stones these days - monuments) - so whenever any who passed for generations to come they would REMEMBER THE MIGHTY THINGS GOD HAD DONE FOR THEM.

1. Remembrance of What God has Done

A few years back we were at a theatrical production of the Book of Ruth --- it is not in Scripture, but they had them crossing the Jordan by the Memorial stones and Naomi telling Ruth this is where our ancestors crossed on dry land when God brought us to this place of promise!
Though that scene was not real, it depicted what would have taken place in the life of the Hebrews when they passed that place.
Psalm 145:4 NLT
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.
WHy should it be any different for the people of God today?
When we TESTIFY of all the LORD has done for us - we recall HIS Greatness and mighty acts.
Interesting is on the DAY OF PENTECOST - the other languages spoken were declaring God’s mighty acts in the various language of the peoples present.
Acts 2:11 NLT
(both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!”
There is something powerful that happens when we recall God’s mighty power and His work in our lives!!!!
We need to be a people who remember. We need to remember what God has done for us...
There is no better way to see revival start in our heart than to remind ourselves of when spiritual life began there!
As important as having vision for the future is, remembering God’s work in the past is just as vital - AND BIBLICAL!
Every Christian in this room can remember:
When Jesus saved you
When Jesus healed you
When Jesus provided for you
When Jesus Filled you
When Jesus Answered you
And if He did it before - HE CAN DO IT AGAIN
The memorial stones build that day in this story from Joshua - were taken from the middle of the river
Why -it was the point of greatest depth, greatest obstacle
THE DEEPEST WATERS THAT GOD BROUGHT THEM THROUGH!!!!
Do you have a place of memorial in your life - a place that God called you, filled you, spoke into your life, provided for you...
I can recall the far right corner of the altar in my home church that God worked in my heart after youth services when we would go and spend time in prayer...
I can recall a Sunday School room on the side of the Fellowship Hall where I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I was 12....
I can recall a sanctuary in Newport, OR where in a desperate moment I looked out the windows at the sun trying to break through a heavy cloud cover, and God was reminding me behind every cloud the sun is still shining --- and it will break forth again...
I see the side of a platform (altar) in a church in Louisiana while fasting and praying that God gave me the Word I needed to make one of the bravest changes of my life - one that eventually led me here.
I don’t have to see the exact places, although when I do, it reminds me clearly of His work in my life… but I can also remember and see the picture in my head and I am reminded of all God has done
DO YOU NEED TO BE REVIVED IN YOUR SPIRIT...
REMEMBER THE SPIRITUAL MARKERS in your life that altered the course of your life!!!
AND REMEMBER the TESTIMONIES of GENERATIONS PAST and how GOD MOVED!

2. Respond with Thanksgiving

Psalm 75:1 NLT
We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds.
The response to all God has done is one of THANKSGIVING!
TO have a HEART of GRATITUDE!!! and APPRECIATION for what the Lord has done!!!!
An unthankful heart results in godlessness!
Romans 1:20–25 NLT
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
Here Romans tells us that as mankind failed to thank God for His provision in the world, they become more godless and turn toward false gods and creations denying the CREATOR who is worthy of their admiration.
Look at our society today --- credit is given to evolution, turning to pagan religions, and trying to be in touch with mother earth.... anything to avoid being thankful to a loving God who created all things!
The less we appreciate God, the more crude and crass our land has become and the more ungodly
For the Christian - thankfulness produces greater godliness...
Hebrews 12:28 NLT
Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.
A Thankful heart will worship God and serve out of holy fear (respect) and awe - wonder for what He has done.
Think of that — so many Christians today look down on those Christians who are always proclaiming their thanks to God for what He has done - like they are super spirituals when in reality they are simply REVIVED!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Calls us to thanksgiving in ALL THINGS!!!

3. Thanksgiving Receives Hope

Psalm 107 NLT
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. For he has gathered the exiles from many lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in the wilderness, lost and homeless. Hungry and thirsty, they nearly died. Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress. He led them straight to safety, to a city where they could live. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery. They rebelled against the words of God, scorning the counsel of the Most High. That is why he broke them with hard labor; they fell, and no one was there to help them. Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron. Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins. They couldn’t stand the thought of food, and they were knocking on death’s door. Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and sing joyfully about his glorious acts. Some went off to sea in ships, plying the trade routes of the world. They, too, observed the Lord’s power in action, his impressive works on the deepest seas. He spoke, and the winds rose, stirring up the waves. Their ships were tossed to the heavens and plunged again to the depths; the sailors cringed in terror. They reeled and staggered like drunkards and were at their wits’ end. Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation. He changes rivers into deserts, and springs of water into dry, thirsty land. He turns the fruitful land into salty wastelands, because of the wickedness of those who live there. But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water. He brings the hungry to settle there and to build their cities. They sow their fields, plant their vineyards, and harvest their bumper crops. How he blesses them! They raise large families there, and their herds of livestock increase. When they decrease in number and become impoverished through oppression, trouble, and sorrow, the Lord pours contempt on their princes, causing them to wander in trackless wastelands. But he rescues the poor from trouble and increases their families like flocks of sheep. The godly will see these things and be glad, while the wicked are struck silent. Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.
brings us to a reality that our thankfulness restores hope in our lives...
brings us
Hope for mercy, redemption and being called to the Lord is found in the first 7 verses...
ps 107:
Psalm 107:1–7 NLT
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. During this act of remembrance of what God has done and thankfulness — we are reminded of mercy, redemption and God making a way
Psalm 107:8–14 NLT
Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery. They rebelled against the words of God, scorning the counsel of the Most High. He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains.
Psalm 8:
The Lord can satisfy our soul, free us from bondage and forgives rebellion --- a GOD THAT RESTORES - what hope is in that --- WHAT NEW LIFE AWAITS when we remember!!!
Psalm 107:15–20 NLT
Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron. Psalm 107
He has power over the weather and the elements of nature - to protect and preserve life --- and to pull us out of the storm
In the same way in the storm of life - there is hope for His preservation and protection!
psalm 107:
