The Shield of Faith

Ephesians 6:10–16 NKJV
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
We in a war folks.
There is a world system that would rob you every bit of purpose and meaning, have you throw your life away as a mindless, meaningless consumer of whatever the world tells you, you ought to consume
The world system is anti-God anti-Christ and seeks to tear down distort and pervert everything God has created good.
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.
your neighbor is not you enemy
your husband, our wife, our wayward child is not your enemy
We are called to pray for those who would try to make themselves our enemy, to love those who would do us harm

The Christian faith is built upon the foundation of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ

This is why we cannot accept any other way.
We don’t believe in a higher power or an impersonal force
We believe is a risen Lord
We believe in a Savior who died for our sins
There is one way, one truth and one life
And NO ONE comes unto the Father except by Him
— that is mighty narrow pastor
There is only one innocent man on the cross
—> Upon the cross Jesus stands alone
Allah did not die for you
Buddha did not die for you
And you sure ain’t gonna earn your way out of judgement

Faith is not primarily about the stuff you know, it is about who you know.

Colossians 2:9 NKJV
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
Everything you need to know about God is wrapped up in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Even the God of the Old Testament

In Jesus We Find Love

Matthew 14:25–31 NKJV
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Peter had faith in the love of God
What Peter did not understand at this time that there is power in the command.
Jesus said come.
Why should you have confidence that you can live this Christian life?
Because Jesus has said come

In Jesus We Find Authority

Luke 7:1–10 NKJV
Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.” Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.
Every word belongs to you and every word is pregnant with authority

In Jesus We Find Mercy

Luke 23:39–43 NKJV
Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Jesus receives all that come
Jesus turns no one away
This side of the grave the door is wide open

Where Will you Run?

When you are tired and hurting where do you run?
Maybe the reason you are so exhausted is because you run to that which has no power to save?

Christian Faith is Trusting God’s Word

Numbers 23:19 NKJV
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

We Trust: because of His power

He created the heavens and the earth

We Trust: because of His character

He does not change

We Trust: because of His demostration

The cross in the ultimate demonstration that God really means:
Jeremiah 31:3 NKJV
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

The Shield of Faith

Above all, if you forget everything remember this , hold on to this
It is a our protection against the lies of the enemy
that God does not care, or He does not hear, or He is unable to respond

The Shield of faith is how we push forward

James 1:6 NKJV
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
Without faith the world and circumstance pushes you around
with faith you push the world
I have anchored in Jesus, I’ll fear no wind or wave

The Shield of Faith is Our Refuge
