Dwight L Moody

In the last century some ministers were planning a united crusade.  They met to select an evangelist.  The majority wanted Dwight L. Moody, the great preacher who was filled with the Spirit and anointed with God’s mighty power, to preach His word.

One minister on the committee, however, was holding out for another evangelist.  In exasperation he finally said, “Moody, Moody, Moody…That is the only name you seem to know.  Does Moody have a monopoly on the Holy Spirit?”

One of the others answered, “No, but it seems that the Holy Spirit has a monopoly on Moody.”

Moody himself said, “I know perfectly well that, wherever I go to preach, there are many better preachers known and heard than I am; all that I can say about it is that the Lord uses me.”
