How do we know right from wrong?

We are called
What about the grey areas? -
Should a Christian participate in yoga, in halloween, drink alcohol, dancing, sabbath, clothing, dating.
Describe the gray area.
We know that “an idol is nothing.”

Be Humble

as opposed to pride
Here is the attitude
consider where others are.
considers other people. others are weaker.
A child who believes there are monsters in their room. The parent can tell them.

Love Sacrificially

as opposed to disregard or apathy, or indifference.
Goal. value relationships over my rights. God has not called us to a list of rules.
1 Corinthians 10:25–29 HCSB
Eat everything that is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake, for the earth is the Lord’s, and all that is in it. If one of the unbelievers invites you over and you want to go, eat everything that is set before you, without raising questions of conscience. But if someone says to you, “This is food offered to an idol,” do not eat it, out of consideration for the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake. I do not mean your own conscience, but the other person’s. For why is my freedom judged by another person’s conscience?
:
Its my right to do yoga…
For you yoga, might be just trying to turn yourself into a human pretzel. YOGA suppose you are in a community where many hindus are coming to know the Lord.
Or a muslim or Jewish community- both of which don’t eat pork.. do you have pepperoni pizza.
So is it sin? Not in the act itself, but in the disregard for others.
1 Corinthians 8:12 HCSB
Now when you sin like this against the brothers and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ.
The aim of instruction is this:
1 Timothy 1:3–7 HCSB
As I urged you when I went to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach different doctrine or to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God’s plan, which operates by faith. Now the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. Some have deviated from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion. They want to be teachers of the law, although they don’t understand what they are saying or what they are insisting on.

Build others up

as opposed to destroying someone else…
1 Corinthians 8:9–11 HCSB
But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak. For if someone sees you, the one who has this knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, won’t his weak conscience be encouraged to eat food offered to idols? Then the weak person, the brother for whom Christ died, is ruined by your knowledge.

There is a knowledge of right and wrong that is characterized by a humble love for God and other people.
There is a knowledge of right and wrong that is characterized by a humble love for God and other people.
Its not about rules.

Questions to ask yourself:

-Does the Word of God speak directly to this issue?
-Will my decision cause someone else to stumble?
-Will my decision show love for God and others?
1 Corinthians 10:31–33 HCSB
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory. Give no offense to the Jews or the Greeks or the church of God, just as I also try to please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, so that they may be saved.
God is glorified when we accomidate ourselves to the weaknesses of others, when we sacrifice some of our “freedoms,” in an effort to love others.
Romans 5:7–12 HCSB
For rarely will someone die for a just person—though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life! And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him. Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Romans 5:6–9 ESV
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
Romans 5:5–9 ESV
and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
