I remember seeing a television documentary that featured the story of two drivers in conflict. One man felt the other driver had cut him off. He tailgaited, then pulled alongside the other driver, and they made angry gestures toward each other. As his anger escalated, the first pulled out a semiautomatic pistol and emptied into the other car, hitting and killing the driver, a seventeen-year-old girl.
What struck me was this comment, made during an interview with him in prison: “She started it. I am just as much a victim as she is.”
