Truth is, none of these will bring happiness. Only a relationship with Jesus will bring true and lasting happiness.

1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

People, like sheep have a tendency to wander off.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

Sheep are the dumbest animals on the planet, and Jesus continually refers to us as sheep. Why? Because we act like them. We always seem to do stupid stuff. We hear God tell us to:
put off gossip, but we still do it.
to Live pure lives, but we still have moral failures.
to give each ohter the benefit of the doubt because we love each other, but we don’t.
We will pray for God to bless us and when he does, we forget all about God and we fall away.

When you don’t live for the Lord, you will feel dirty. When I came to Jesus, I felt clean.

Sheep rely totally on the shepherd for defense from predators. We must rely on our shepherd. If we do not, we are defenseless against our carnal nature & temptation.

The Lod wants to take care of our emotional mental, physical, social and spiritual needs.

Jesus is on a search for people who have lost their way. (the search for the little boy I went on)

When the Lord Rescues us, He saves us.

He saves us from spiritual depravity, death and doom.
1 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
He saves us for a supernatural destiny.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
