I Am A Church Member - Part 4
Kidz World Today - Children’s Church
1 Corinthians 12:27 NKJV
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
Biblical church membership is about being functional, sacrificing, giving, and forgiving.
Biblical Church Membership is not about My Preferences and Desires
The strange thing about biblical church membership is that you actually give up your preferences when you join.
To meet the needs of others: we exists to serve, to give and to sacrifice
Mark 9:35 NLT
35 He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
Mark 9:35 NCV
35 Jesus sat down and called the twelve apostles to him. He said, “Whoever wants to be the most important must be last of all and servant of all.”
Servant - a person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic duties or as a personal attendant.
The Word Servant occurs 57 Times in the New Testament!
The word Serve occurs 58 times in the new testament
The Bible calls us to be servants and to serve each other in the Body of Christ!
Ephesians 3:7 NLT
7 By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.
Ephesians 3:7 NIV
7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.
The Mind Of Christ
Philippians 2:5–11 NLT
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
He “did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage.”
“He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave.”
“He humbled Himself.” He became “obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross.”
Jesus is an example for us to follow. We are to be servants. We are to be obedient. We are to put others first. We are to do whatever it takes to keep the unity in our church.
You always ask first what you can do for your church
I Will Pray for My Church Leaders
Pray For The Pastor and His Family
1 Timothy 3:1–7 NLT
1 This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” 2 So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. 3 He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. 4 He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5 For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church? 6 A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall. 7 Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil’s trap.
above reproach - means to find no fault
I am asking you to Pray for me and my wife and family every day. My work is never ending. My days are filled with numerous demands that bring emotional highs and lows.
I deal with critics. I must be a good husband and father. I need prayer for strength and wisdom daily.
