Ephesians 6:15 NKJV
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
The equipment of the Spirit… The armor of God. God knows the shoes that we need for our journey.
I have several things that are wrong with my feet. I was born with these issues. I have extra bones in my feet. My arches are falling because the tendons that wrap through the feet relax the more I walk, run or generally use my feet. Because of this there are some shoes that are better for my feet.
Boots are sometimes the best things I can have on. A sneaker or tennis shoe with a wide midsole can be great. Shoes with narrow insteps are the worst. I hate them.
As I have gotten older I have decided that style is less important and function with comfort is where it is at. Because of this… I buy expensive dress shoes, ugly less trendy casual shoes. It won’t be long before I can justify some hush puppies and my wife is going to hate it.
What are some of your favorite brand of shoes?
Take some suggestions from the audience.
Imagine, think what kind of shoe the Lord would put upon your feet?

Provision from God

Provision for Asher

Moses’ last message to Israel was directed at each tribe. To the tribe of Asher in
Deuteronomy 33:24–25 NKJV
And of Asher he said: “Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favored by his brothers, And let him dip his foot in oil. Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.
The land that Asher inherited was mountainous stretching from Mt. Carmel to Sidon. It was the rocky coast of Israel.
God was saying there are going to be some mountains, hills, rocky places as well as some valleys. There will be some rough places you are going to walk through. But I have provided.

Provision for a lost son

When the prodigal son returned home. One of the provisions were a new pair of sandals.
Luke 15:22 NKJV
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
Sons don’t wear the worn out shoes of hired help. They where sandals provided by the father.

Provision for those who abide with God

David in
Psalm 91:13 NKJV
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
The fiercest, the strongest, and worst that you can think of can be trampled under the feet of the person who has chosen God.

The shoes we are all meant to wear

Gospel of peace
Ephesians 6:15 NKJV
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Shod your feet with the preparation of the good news of peace. Be prepared for the good news of peace.
When we experience the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Believing, repenting of our sins, being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of those sins, and being baptized with the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues.
We are given some custom fit, perfected shoes that were paid for with the blood of the lamb. It is the gospel of peace. Something the world cannot offer, it is supernatural, God given.

Peace with God

Romans 5:1 NKJV
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
No peace to compare.

Peace with God’s word

Romans 8:6 NKJV
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Not one single word, command, request of God is offensive to a person who is spiritually minded. Peace with God’s word.
I think the last two “peaces” can be the most challenging things to live.

At Peace with ourselves

Romans 15:13 NKJV
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Living life at peace with ourselves.
Ending - call for music to come.

Peace with each other

Hebrews 12:14 NKJV
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
We won’t see the Lord without peace with all people and holiness.
The enemy is constantly trying to divide us. Families…being divided by bitterness and divorce. Friends…being divided by hurts. The enemy wants to divide us along economic status. The enemy wants to divide along culture lines. The enemy wants to divide us along racial lines.
Look at what scripture says to us.
Colossians 3:12–15 NKJV
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Differences are going to arise. Problems happen. Hurst whether intentional or unintentional are going to happen. But there is a practical scriptural way that we are to address them.
Ending - get yourself ready. We are going to take a minute so that God can speak to us. I am going to invite everyone to come to the front.
God has provided us some shoes for our feet.
A prodigal - new shoes to replace the worn out shoes of a sinful life.
When life gets rocky - iron and bronze so we will not slip.
When enemies bite at our feet - David said we will tread upon them.
We can have peace with God, peace with His word, peace with ourselves, and peace with our brother and sister.
