Job 14:7

Job 14:7 NLT
7 “Even a tree has more hope! If it is cut down, it will sprout again and grow new branches.
Scripture speaks of a general resurrection of all people at the end of time, which will be followed by judgment.
The resurrection of the dead predicted
In the OT
Daniel 12:2 NLT
2 Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace.
By Jesus Christ
John 5:28–29 NLT
28 Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, 29 and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.
The resurrection of the dead will occur at Jesus Christ’s return
Revelation 20:12–13 NLT
12 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
1 Corinthians 15:52 NLT
52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 NLT
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves.
The resurrection of the dead includes both the righteous and wicked
Acts 24:15 NLT
15 I have the same hope in God that these men have, that he will raise both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Matthew 25:31–32 NLT
31 “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Attitudes to the resurrection of the dead
Denial by false teachers
1 Corinthians 15:12 NLT
12 But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead?
Acts 23:8 NLT
8 for the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these.
2 Timothy 2:18 NLT
18 They have left the path of truth, claiming that the resurrection of the dead has already occurred; in this way, they have turned some people away from the faith.
Ridicule from unbelievers
Acts 17:32 NLT
32 When they heard Paul speak about the resurrection of the dead, some laughed in contempt, but others said, “We want to hear more about this later.”
Unbelief
Acts 26:8 NLT
8 Why does it seem incredible to any of you that God can raise the dead?
1 Corinthians 15:35–44 NLT
35 But someone may ask, “How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?” 36 What a foolish question! When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first. 37 And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting. 38 Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have. A different plant grows from each kind of seed. 39 Similarly there are different kinds of flesh—one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. 40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies. 41 The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory. 42 It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. 43 Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. 44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.
In Conclusion:
If you are cut down, do your roots reside in Christ?
Will you resurrect and grow after death or be sent to darkness for eternity?
We all need to check ourselves and see where are roots planted? In the world or Christ?
Have A Great Week!!!
