We are Called out of the Self-satisfying City of Man.

The great harlot: the evil, satan lead, world system organized in direct opposition to God’s design, for is kingdom. The source of all false political, economic, and religious powers. The “city of man” promotes idolatry, pride, self-sufficiency, self-indulgence, while denying God’s grace (Akin, 17:1–8 269).
The waters are nations and peoples and multitudes and tongues are under the influence of the “city of Man” (Rev 1, 15).
The Citizens of the “City of Man” worship the beast, who is the antichrist, and ruler of the endtime worldwide empire (Rev 17:3, 8, 11,–14).
The antichrist will imitate Jesus, so that he can amaze and seduce the world to put political, religious, and economic interests in allegiance to him (Rev 17:8, 11).
The 7 heads are world empires. Five of which stood in John’s past, and 1 in His present, and one to come in the future (Rev 17:3, 7, 9–10).
The seven mountains represent the 7 hills on which ancient Rome rested, which came to represent a city opposed to God (Rev 17:9–10).
The seventh and eighth King represents the Antichrist before and after his pseudo-death and resurrection. as the eight king he turns his political career into a global empire (Rev 17:11).
the ten horn are 10 political powers, who unite to form the antichrist’s empire, by turning their power and authority over to him.
The called and chosen and faithful are also called the armies of God (19:14), wearing pure white robes. These are also call saints in the NT, because we are set apart for service and worship to God (Rev 17:14).
John 2:15–17 NASB95
And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house will consume me.”
