16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.

17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.

CHRIST IS A DIVINE COMFORTER.

He was recognized as a Teacher from God.

1 There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. 2 After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” 3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

He was equal with God.

5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

3. He was God in the flesh; .

CHRIST IS A QUALIFIED COMFORTER.

He was prophesied as a qualified comforter; 4 Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” 5 And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. 6 The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland.

He is qualified to comfort and heal all afflictions.

5 the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”

3. He is qualified to comfort because of His creative acts;

for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.

CHRIST IS A PERFECT COMFORTER.

He is perfect in knowledge; “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”

48“How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”

He was perfect in His behavior, let’s read just how “Perfect Jesus was..”

21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. 22 He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. 23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. 24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

He was perfect in the offering He made;

Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

CHRIST IS A LIVING COMFORTER.

He lived to bring comfort to Simeon; .

He lived to bring comfort to Mary Magdalene; .

He lived to comfort His disciples; .

CHRIST IS AN ETERNAL COMFORTER.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

2. He is ever in the midst of believers; For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

20For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

3. He is ever present to comfort, “Always.” 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

CHRIST IS A FORGIVING COMFORTER.

He has the authority to forgive sins; So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”

He came into the world to forgive sinners like you and I. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

CHRIST IS AN INTERCEDING COMFORTER.

1. He is interceding at the right hand of God; Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

34Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

2. He is interceding to forgive the sins of believers; But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

9But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

3. Jesus is interceding because He desires to see souls saved; Now Congregation listen to this!!!

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

AMEN

25Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
