Matthew 1:18–20 ESV
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Jesus had a supernatural conception.

Larry King when asked if he could interview anyone he said he would interview Jesus. Larry King is the son of Orthodox Jews.
“If he was indeed virgin-born. The answer to that question would define history for me.” Larry King
“Before they came together she was found to be with child.”
Explanation - “from the Holy Spirit”.
EK - is translated "from/out of" denotes sources, origin, or cause. You use this work in our English word "Exit". It is important to know that the scriptures are claiming that the source of this conception is not man but God.
There were skeptics in first century times who hinted at Christ’s illegitimacy.
Mark 6:3 ESV
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Andy Stanley
“Christianity does not hinge on the truth or even the stories about the birth of Jesus, it really hinges on the resurrection of Jesus.”
We can view it as a myth in the highest and best sense of the word.
Stanley in his own style kind of argues for an ambivalence towards the virgin birth.
Matthew is not ambivalent about this. He puts it out not as an addendum but as essential to the story of Jesus.

Believing the Bible is true means accepting the supernatural conception of Christ.

Jesus had a specific mission.

Matthew 1:21–25 ESV
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

DA Carson Stated,

If God had perceived that our greatest need was economic, He would have sent an economist. If he had perceived that our greatest need was entertainment, he would have sent us a comedian or an artist.

If God had perceived that our greatest need was political stability, he would have sent us a politician. If he had perceived that our greatest need was health, he would have sent us a doctor.

But he perceived that our greatest need involved our sin, our alienation from him, our profound rebellion, our death, and he sent us a Savior.

Christmas is about the miraculous intervention by God to save sinners like us.
