Some years ago I heard the story of a home that was engulfed in fire. The woman in the home made it out but was almost overcome with smoke inhalation. As fire fighters attempted to save her home she pled with them about her baby girl who was still in the home.

As firemen prepared to attempt a rescue she described in detail how to find the staircase; which bedroom; and where the baby bed was.

With fire raging all around them and through incredibly dense smoke, the firemen made there way to the room and one fireman reached in the baby bed and removed the baby wrapped up in the blanket and made his way back outside.

Just as the house came crashing down, he emerged with the baby to the cheers of the crowd that had gathered and the great relieve of the mother.

He placed the baby in her arms and turned to move away when he heard a blood-curdling scream. It was from the mother. She screamed, “It’s a doll! It’s not my baby! It’s a doll!”
