Did God Create Man or Did Man create God?

Creation or Evolution?

February 12, 2005 and February 13, 2005

Introduction

If we were to reduce the questions of the world down to one, the question would be this; DID GOD MAKE MAN OR DID MAN MAKE GOD?

1 Timothy 6 NIV

20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,(Adrian Rogers-“oppositions of science”) 21 which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.

/Grace be with you. [1]/

1 Timothy 6 Message

And oh, my dear Timothy, guard the treasure you were given! Guard it with your life. Avoid the talk-show religion and the practiced confusion of the so-called experts. People caught up in a lot of talk can miss the whole point of faith.

/     Overwhelming grace keep you![2] /

-I want to look at where man came from and why it is important that you belief Scripture.

-We are often led to believe that there is a mountain of evidence to support evolution and we are just laymen and worse yet, Christian laymen who believe myths and fables about God creating the world.

-I am not a scientist but there are tons of people who can discuss any aspect of it you would like. This is creation for the mainstream.

READ “Flew the Coop” from world

-When a scientist tells me he believes the Bible it doesn’t inspire more faith in the Bible just more faith in the Scientist.

-It is very common to pick up a child’s book about dinosaurs and they will all begin with something like; “Millions of Years Ago”.

-Back when we still had PBS we sat through so much nonsense about evolution that we would laugh out loud at them.

-Evolution is a fairy tale for grown ups.

Dr. Criswell says; “Once I was a tadpole beginning to begin. Then I was a frog with my tail tucked in. Then I was a monkey in a banyan tree, now I’m a professor with a PHD.”

-The issue is can you kiss the frog and turn him into a prince? Of course not, according to evolutionists it takes the kiss and millions of years.

1.           What does God say about creation versus evolution?

Genesis 1:1 pretty much sets the stage for all that follows.

/In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [3]/

Hebrews 11 NIV

3 /By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. [4] /

Psalm 19

1 /The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. [5]/

-According to the Bible God is a creator and He desired to create man in His own image and also a place uniquely fashioned for this man to live in.

-God created us because He was motivated by love and that creation and love gives us meaning.

-If we just evolved we have no meaning or purpose. We are just transitory forms of science and we got here by chance and our existence is just a mystery of the universe.

-This is so fundamental that I heard in China when you become a Christian they say; “So you have rejected Darwin?” (evolution)

-God says I made you and breathed life into you.

2 Corinthians 4 NIV

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” a made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. [6]

-God’s creation is intended to give Him honor. Instead some of it is crying out; “WE MADE OURSELVES”.

(PEPSI CAN EXAMPLE)

2.           What do the scientists say?

Charles Darwin: “I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything, and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them.”

Dr. T.N. Tahmisian (Atomic Energy Commission USA):

“Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling may be the greatest hoax ever. In explaining evolution, we do not have one iota of fact.”

-This isn’t a pastor saying this. It is an eminent scientist.

-Some of the most famous scientists in history believed the Bible and creation rather than evolution.

·       Michael Farraday

·       Louis Pasteur

·       Lord Kelvin

·       Joseph Lister

·       Isaac Newton

·       Kepler

·       Lord Francis Bacon

And many others……..

-We are led to believe that all scientists agree about evolution. We are led to believe that they have the evidence but that it is over our head.

Dr. Etheridge from the British Museum of Science: “Nine-tenths of the talk of evolution is sheer nonsense, not founded on observation and wholly unsupported by fact. This museum is full of proofs of the utter falsity of their view.”

George Bernard Shaw, perhaps the most renowned free thinker and liberal philosopher said in some of his last writings: “The science to which I pinned my faith is bankrupt. Its counsels, which should have established the millennium, led, instead, directly to the suicide of Europe. I believed them once. In their name I helped to destroy the faith of millions of worshippers in the temples of a thousand creeds. And now they look at me and witness the great tragedy of an atheist who has lost his faith.”

3.           What does the fossil record say?

-I know all of us know a few people that we think could be the missing link between man and but despite that…the missing link is still missing, along with the chain.

-If you have visited the St. Louis zoo you have seen an elaborate display of the evolution hoax that contains models that have been proven to be false and in some cases even hoaxes, yet they are still there.

-Amazingly we have seen these pictures of the transition from ape to man and they are artists renditions…not fact.

VHS-FOSSIL RECORD

-You can study this as deep as you want to go.

-You hear about a great discovery that proves evolution and then it disappears.

-Contrast that with a recent discovery of the Biblical town of Edom. It was called fiction because it wasn’t found. It was discovered recently and dated to the exact time when David and Solomon lived.

-Real Science has never disproved the Bible and actually real science is a great supporter of the Biblical text.

4. What does the second law of thermodynamics say?

-I am not a scientist.

-I remember walking once in California and God used an unusual example to teach me something that science already knew.

-I noticed the deterioration of the area I was in. It was a 50’s area in L.A. Everything was deteriorating.

-Evolutionists say if something is left to itself it evolves upward and gets better.

-If you have ever had a garden you know if you leave a garden to itself it doesn’t get better.

-Park a car in the woods and come back in 20 years to see if evolution or the 2nd law of Thermodynamics is working.

THE SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS SAYS SIMPLY THAT EVERYTHING WEARS OUT AND RUNS DOWN.

Romans 8 NIV

20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that a the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

/22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. [7]/

-Your body is subject to the second law of thermodynamics.  It doesn’t matter how much botox you put in it…..sooner or later it must succumb. You may have felt a few of those groans of creation this morning.

Example

-If you were to put the pieces of a Lexus 430 in a garage and come back in 10 years…would a car be in there? How about 20,000 years?

If you were to take those pieces and put them in a 747 and drop them out at 10,000 feet, would they assemble? Of course not, the evolutionists say you would need to take them up to 100,000 feet. Evolution is all about time and chance.

Someone said believing in evolution is like believing that a tornado hits a junkyard and produces a 747 jet.

Irreducible complexity

In 1996, the Free Press published a book by Lehigh University biochemist and intelligent design advocate Michael Behe called Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution. The book's central thesis is that many biological systems are "irreducibly complex" at the molecular level. Behe gives the following definition of irreducible complexity:

By irreducibly complex I mean a single system composed of several well-matched, interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, wherein the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning. An irreducibly complex system cannot be produced directly (that is, by continuously improving the initial function, which continues to work by the same mechanism) by slight, successive modifications of a precursor system, because any precursor to an irreducibly complex system that is missing a part is by definition nonfunctional. An irreducibly complex biological system, if there is such a thing, would be a powerful challenge to Darwinian evolution. (p. 39)

which claims that many biological systems are "irreducibly complex" -- that in order to evolve, multiple parts would have to arise simultaneously.

-This simply means that every part is so complex that in order for a Mercedes to come from evolution the engine would have to evolve at the same time as the axle at the same time as the brake system and then come together just right by chance. (We have a great video of this but not enough time to show it.)

4.           What are the implications of believing in creation or evolution?

-It all comes down to this….if God is our creator, we are responsible to Him. If not, life has no meaning and God has no claim on us.

-If God made the world and us….we are responsible to Him. Can the clay talk back to the potter?

Romans 1 NIV

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28 /Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. [8]/

_The moral and ethical implications of rejecting creation are well documented in the last century. Hitler was thrilled with the concept of evolution. It allowed him to devalue men and women.

-It is called “social Darwinianism”.

What has this mindless recycling done to influence our culture? In his
book, The Long War Against God, Dr. Henry Morris wrote: "We can justifiably
charge this evolutionary nonsense of recapitulation with responsibility for
the slaughter of millions of helpless, prenatal children - or at least for
giving it a pseudo-scientific rationale." But, there is more, so much more.
Haeckel deceived the German people wholesale. His ideas became entrenched
as scientific truths concerning the origin of people. In
Germany he would
become deified. He would greatly influence men like Nietzche (He coined the
phrase, "God is dead." He died insane.) and Adolf Hitler.

Daniel Gasman wrote The Scientific Origins of National Socialism: Social
Darwinism in Ernst Haeckel and the German Monist League. His commented upon
Haeckel: "Along with his social Darwinist followers, he set about to
demonstrate the 'aristocratic' and non-democratic character of the laws of
nature . . . up to his death in 1919, Haeckel contributed to that special
variety of German thought which served as the seedbed for National
Socialism [Nazi party]. He became one of
Germany's major ideologists for
racism, nationalism, and imperialism." Haeckelism fostered the idea that
the Germans were a superior race. His concepts catapulted the Germans into
World War l, World War ll and the Holocaust.

Haeckel founded the Monist [Atheist] League. In his 1988 work, Biological
Sciences and the Roots of Nazism, George Stein summarized Haeckel's
sociological ideas: "The basic outline of German social Darwinianism as
developed by Haeckel and his colleagues is clear. It was argued that, on
scientific grounds, man was merely a part of nature with no special
transcendent qualities of special humanness. On the other hand, the Germans
were members of a biologically superior community. German social Darwinism,
contrary to Anglo-American social Darwinism, rejected the liberal
individualistic state in favor of a natural, organic, folkish state of
blood and soil. It attacked the alienation and atomization of
individualistic modern civilization in the name of a psychological
fulfillment resulting from union with the natural processes of evolution
seen as a collective struggle for existence. And, of course, it argued that
politics was merely the straightforward application of the laws of
biology."

Sir Arthur Keith was an ardent evolutionary anthropologist. Although he was
a victim of Hitler's Blitz of
London, he wrote a book after World War ll in
which he honored Hitler, one evolutionist to another. In Evolution and
Ethics he wrote: "To see evolutionary measures and tribal morality being
applied rigorously to the affairs of a great modern nation, we must turn
again to
Germany of 1942. We see Hitler devoutly convinced that evolution
produces the only real basis for a national policy. The German Fuhrer, as I
have consistently maintained, is an evolutionist; he has consciously sought
to make the practices of
Germany conform to the theory of evolution."

Sir Arthur Keith (wrote the forward to the 100th anniversary edition of Darwin’s book, Origin of Species in 1959) He was a victim of the Blitz of London but he still honored Hitler as an evolutionist and he attributes Hitlers  policies to his belief in evolution: “Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation and that is unthinkable.”

-Actual title of Darwin’s book: The Origin of Species

by Means of Natural Selection,

or
The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life

First Edition

by Charles Darwin

-Of course it affects our morals and culture.

(this quote on the screen)

Dr. George Wald professor emeritus in biology at Harvard and winner of the Nobel Prize in 1971(Those are some very impressive credentials!): “There are only two possibilities as to how life arose. One is spontaneous generation arising to evolution. The other is a supernatural, creative act of God. There is no third possibility. Spontaneous generation that life arose from non-living matter was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only possible conclusion that life arose as a supernatural, creative act of God. (so far so good-the problem for him is that he went on to be too honest) I will not accept that philosophically, because I do not want to believe in God. Therefore, I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.”

-Well that pretty much sums it up.

Psalm 8 NIV

/1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise b because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings c and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! [9] /

(That’s what I’m talking about!)
