Our theme in 2019 is “A Worshiping Church: Coming and Staying out of Bondage Enjoying our God now and forever!” God brought us out of bondage and there is no turning back because there is something greater ahead of us.

Jesus read the scroll of the Prophet Isaiah quotes verse 61:1 in Luke 4:18-19.

THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE LORD’S FAVOR there is good news; there is a gospel message for the poor physically and spiritual.

The is deliverances for prisoners of spiritual war, there is healing for the brokenhearted, weak and vision for those who can’t see clearly.

And freedom for the oppressed; those who are injured or wounded physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.

This is the of of visitation; GOD’s Spirit is calling out to every nation with the invitation come let us enter in bow down and worship him - this is the year of the LORD’s favor!

(Keep moving forward, and watch God to do what he said he is going to do!

I am believing that in 2019… GOD is going to do what he said he is going to do!

Prayer of Illumination: Father, send your Holy Spirit and fill us that our hearts are receptive to your word.

Help me to be faithful to your word, give me clarity needful for our journey, give me your power to preach with the authority you have given, and passion for your glory to be revealed, guide us by your wisdom, may I decrease and you INCREASE LORD JESUS and set all captives free, loosen every chain in Jesus name.

INTRODUCTION

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IS IN IT THIRD WEEK, OVER 800,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES ARE NOT BEING PAID, THIS NUMBER DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MILLIONS OF CONTRACTOR EMPLOYEES WHO SUPPORT THE AGENCIES.

JOHN, HELPS US TO SEE THAT JOBS AND SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE DO GUARANTEE PAY CHECKS OR PROVISION AND THE ONLY FAITHFUL ONE WE CAN TRUST IS JESUS CHRIST, THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, THE ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END.

Who: The human author of the book Revelation simply identifies himself as “John” (1:1, 4, 9-10; 22:8-9), a servant of God who received and recorded the heavenly visions for the churches of Asia while suffering in exile on the island of Patmos for fulfilling his prophetic witness.

Justin Martyr and other early church leaders like Irenaeus, Tertullian, Clement of Alexandra and Origin all concluded that the Apostle John, the son of Zebedee as the author.

Church tradition says a group of Christains moved from Judea to Asia around AD 55 when the Jews revolted against Rome and John was among them.

What: Revelation speaks to Christians facing pressure and persecution as well as those tempted to compromise.

Judaism was respected with the Roman Empire and were exempt from worshiping Roman Gods.

Rome opposed the church, especially through the imperial cult, which gathered political, social, and economic influences in to a single dominating religious force.

They had temples, priests, festivals, and etc. Christians who refused to participate with the activities of emperor worship faced social and economic rejection because local trade associations and unions were connected to the imperial cult.

When: The date Revelation to the end of the 1st century (AD 69-96)

Where: From Island of Patmos

Why: Revelation answers the most basic of all questions: Who is Lord of the universe?

The Roman emperor claimed lordship by extending his power through local rulers, taxation, the military, trade guilds, temples, and various symbols like statues and coins.

But Revelation was written to reassure Jesus’s disciples that God is on his throne and that Jesus, not Caesar, is Lord of all.

The word “Thyatira” means perpetual sacrifice and message to the church in Thyatira is the fourth (and longest) in the series of messages to the seven churches in Revelation 2–3.

The setting and themes here are very similar to those of Pergamum: Christ is portrayed as Judge, and the church is commended for enduring in a difficult environment of idolatry and immorality.

In this case, however, there is a strong warning to those who refuse to reject the satanic false teaching and a double promise to those who overcome.

I. REMEMBERING THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST (vv.

18-21)

A. ________ WHEN WE FORGET THAT CHRIST CAN SEE DEEP INSIDE OF US EVEN WHEN NOBODY WATCHING AND THAT HE IS LORD OF ALL; WE WILL GO ALONG WITH STUFF WE KNOW HE IS NOT PLEASED WITH.

COMPROMISE HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO BLEND THE OLD WITH THE NEW.

In Christ our way of living is new and he made each of new and fresh in him.

Our new being is compatible for our new living way.

Jesus the head of the church and He knows how active, dynamic, and alive we are as a church, but he also knows what we may go along with look at our text,

I have never met or heard of anyone naming there child Jezebel.

She was the wicked wife of King Ahab of Israel.

She promoted BAAL worship to Israel, and she murdered, was deceitful and setup prophets of BAAL and the LORD had Elijah witness that He alone is God and slew.

This Jezebel promoted an Idolatry that said it ok to worship other gods.

B. LISTEN______ AN IDOL IS ANYTHING THAT A PERSON PUTS FIRST IN LIFE, ANYTHING THAT CONSUMES A PERSONS MIND, HEART, SOUL, AND BODY.

IT COULD BE BUSINESS OR YOUR JOB, SEX, POWER MONEY, SPORTS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EVEN FAMILY.

OUR PROVISION DOES NOT ORIGINATE FROM OUR JOBS OR SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE, BUT FROM GOD AND HIS KINGDOM.

GOD PROVIDES FOR MY FOOD, MY SHELTER AND MY CLOTHING FAITHFULLY

AM I RIGHT ABOUT… THAT’S WHY I HAVE LEARNED TO LOOK TO KNOW OTHER BECAUSE I KNOW WHO KEEPS ME?

C. YOU MAY BE TEMPTED TO GIVEN TO THE PRESSURES TO GIVE YOUR HEART TO THE PLEASURES AND MATERIAL SECURITIES OF THE DAY.

BUT YOU KEEP HOLDING _________!

YOUR JOB OR MONEY IS NOT THE THING KEEPING YOU.

YOUR FAMILY NOR YOU ARE WHO IS KEEPING YOU BUT THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY WHO CALLED YOU!

FAITHFUL IS HE WHO CALLED WHO ALSO WILL DO IT (1 Thes 5:24)!

OUR TEXT TODAY DEMANDS THAT THE CHURCH EMBRACE THE AREAS OF OUR LIVES THAT PLEASES THE LORD AND NOT BE SEDUCED TO COMPROMISE OUR NEW LIVING WAY.

FULLY EMBRACING CHRIST WHO GIVES US ALL THE SECURITY WE NEED (vv.

22-25)

A. _______ SOMETIMES WE MAY FORGET AND START TO PUT OUR TRUST IN POWERFUL PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO GUARANTEE OUR FINANCIAL SECURITY OVER JESUS CHRIST.

THOSE WHO PUT THERE TRUST IN MAN WILL ALWAYS HAVE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES Look...

SICKNESS, DISTRESS, AND DEATH ARE CONSEQUENCES FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNFAITHFUL TO THE LORD.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS GOD KNOWS WHAT WE DO WITH OUT MINDS, HEARTS AND HANDS AND TAKES ALL OF THAT INTO ACCOUNT.

(SOMEDAYS MY MIND AINT RIGHT, OTHER DAYS MY HEART MIGHT NOT BE RIGHT, AND THERE ARE DAY THAT MY ACTIONS ARE NOT RIGHT, BUT OUR GOD SEES AND SEARCHED EVERYTHING.

B. IDOLATRY IS SPIRITUAL ADULTERY AND CHRIST IS LETTING THOSE KNOW WHO ARE COMMITTING ADULTERY WITH HER (FALSE TEACHING, IMMORALITY AND IDOLATRY) STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO REPENT.

ANYBODY HAVE GOD GIVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE?

SOME MAY BE WALKING IN THE SPIRIT AND STRENGTH AND THE POWER OF THE LORD… KEEP IT UP!

C. SOMETIMES WHAT GOD EXPECTS OF US IS TO KEEP DOING WHAT WE’VE BEEN DOING!

KEEP HOLDING ON___________! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

GIVEN THE MORNING STAR

HAVING FAITH TO SEE THROUGH WHERE WE ARE...

C. GOD HAS MADE US THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL; WE ARE FROM ABOVE AND NOT BENEATH ANYMORE.

KEEEP HOLDING ON _________!

WRITE THE VISION MAKE IT PLAIN THAT THEY MAY RUN AND NOT FAITH THOUGHT VISION IS ONLY FOR A WHILE IT WILL DO JUST WHAT HE SAID! IT IS SO, YES IT IS SO, IT WILL DO JUST WHAT HE SAID!

Recapitulation: WE RESIST SETTLING FOR CULTURAL NORMS OF IMMORALITY AND IDOLATRY AND HOLD OUT FOR OUR ETERNAL REWARDS IN CHRIST when we remember the character of Christ, fully embrace Christ who is all the security we need, and hearts listening to the glorious promises of Christ.

KEEP HOLDING ON!

All of us most confront our own mortality!

For believer to die is gain (Phil 1:21, 23).

There are indeed difficult questions for us concerning death, but the good news is God has already conquered death in the resurrection of his Son.

Therefore we too can sing with affirmation Our Hope in Christ; because he lives I can face tomorrow, because he lives all fear is gone, because I know He holds the future.

And this life is worth living just because he lives.
