I want you to love it, learn it and livi it.
Matthew 7:24 NIV
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Why is this important? You are going to have bad days in 2019.
Be more positive Robert… I’m positive tough days are coming in 2019
It’s important to be in the Word while we focus on Prayer.

Understanding the Bible

When you understand something better, you love it more.
Love your wife more now that you understand them...
I want to help you understand your Bible.

The word Bible means Book.

Greek word Biblos. City named Biblas where Paphrus was imported.
Bible is the most sold book in history, most read book in history, most translated book in history.
Next week we will learn how to defend the Bible.

It was written over a period of 1600 years in over a dozen countries on three continents by people from all walks of life.

It was also written in 3 different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek
Koran written by one person
Writings of Buddha - One person.,
Bible was written by

Poets, prophets, princes, kings, sailors, soldiers, attorneys, doctors, farmers, scholars, shepherds, priests, historians, fisherman, tax collectors, & businessmen

Caves, ships, homes, palaces, prisons, & deserts

The Question of the day is

How did they come up with the same story?

We will learn some more of this NW

There were about 40 writers but only one author.

It was written by God. Man held the pen, but God is the author.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NLT
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
All this to say, GW works. You don’t have to defend it, it works.
A Chinese professor asked missionary to bring Biblical teaching to the University, but W/O Jesus. Why? Because the principles work.
The bible is not written in order of events.

You can insert the Psalms into 1 Samuel.

Prophetical Books - 17 Books:

You can insert these prophets into the History section.

5 Major Prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel

They are major because they are long.

12 Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.

The Plot

Here is the story of the Bible. It’s kind of a mirror image.
slide should be from bottom to top

God and righteous man in Paradise. Gen 1-2

Satan & Sin Enter. Gen 3-5

Any time sin enters your life, it’s gets chaotic.

The World is judged and destroyed. Gen 6-9

except for Noah. But people sinned and chaos entered.
People decided since they could not become close to God, they tried to build a tower to God. The Tower of Babel.

One World Government system. Gen 10-11

God separated people into groups.

12 Tribes of Israel God’s Holy People. Gen 12 - Malachi

Jesus Christ. Matthew, Mark, Luke & John

12 Disciples / Church God’s Holy People. Acts - Jude

Now he has put the law in our hearts. He gave us the HS.
We live in this period.
The world is going back to a

One World Government System. Rev 6-19

It’s happening now. There is a reason Russia is messing around in the ME… prophecy.

The World Judged & Destroyed. Rev 6-19

Destroy it with Fire. Recreate the whole world for those who are saved… the church.

Satan & Sin Exit. Rev 20

God & Redeemed Man in Paradise. Rev 21-22

Closest English to the Greek word for Paradise - Resort. Heaven is going to be the best 5 star … 10 star resort you ever imagined. We call it the after life, but it’s not. Heaven is Life. This is prelife.
This is how the Bible reads and we are living in that history.
Whats the subject of the Bible? Not us
We are the Object of the Bible.

The Subject of the Bible - Jesus

To him who sits on the throne be all glory and power.
Jesus is what the whole Bible is about.
He was in Gen
He was the 4th man in the furnace.
Jesus shows up throughout the Bible
300 plus prophecies about Jesus in the OT
John 5:39 NLT
39 “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!
Why is this important? Because we need to find Jesus.
Read the Bible - find Jesus.
Reading the Bible we find Jesus

The Verb - Give.

John 3:16 NLT
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
God did not just say he loved us, he gave love.
He gave is the verb. God gave to us and we give because of that.
He gave his life - we are to give our lives.
He gave his one and only son to be slaughtered for our sins so we would not have to die for our sins.
Response - We give him our lives.
He doesn’t call us to become believers. He call us to be followers… to give him everything.
1 John 3:16 NIV
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
