Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations 7393 Ike’s Faith and Humility

The late Dwight David Eisenhower had the distinction of being the only American President to have been baptized and received into church membership upon confession of faith while in office. The memorial service in the Washington Cathedral witnessed strongly to his faith—there can be no mistaking of it. The simple service, the hymns sung by choir and congregation, the Scriptures read, the prayers given, the Apostles Creed—all bore witness to Ike’s faith in his Lord. The leaders of one hundred nations were present and they heard the witness. More than that, national television brought the witness before the American people.

We were not only reminded of Eisenhower’s faith, but of his humility. There might have been much pomp and ceremony. Eisenhower was the Commander of the Allied forces for the invasion of Europe. He was one of the world’s most decorated military men. Many honors had been heaped upon him in life. In death, the services were simple. It had been planned that way. He was buried in a casket just like those used for common soldiers. This speaks of the humility of the man. With all the honors bestowed upon him, and having been the 34th President of the United States, and having enjoyed a personal popularity seldom matched in America, he chose the common lot.

Prayer
As we started our series last week about kingdom principles, we can not ignore the fact that Matthew is the Gospel that speak the most clearly about kingdom principles. Matthew writes to the Jewish community about how Jesus is fulfilling the prophets of the Old Testament and re-instating His kingdom her on earth through us. Nevertheless the kingdom of God is not exactly the picture of kingdom that the Jews had in mind. Interestingly enough, the first words that comes out of Jesus first sermon was about the kingdom of heaven. Let us see what Jesus says. Come with me to

Who are the meek?

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Matthew 5:9
Matthew 5:9 NKJV
Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
Who are peacemakers?
A peacemaker is a mediator who tries to bring about harmonious relations (between two opposing parties).
Matthew 5:10
Matthew 5:10 NKJV
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The kingdom of God are for those who continue to have faith in Jesus and for that reason you will be persecuted.
The most beautiful scenery of the kingdom of heaven is when Jesus put the kingdom of heaven on the line. When Jesus was tried in all levels of the kingdom of heaven principles.
Jesus became poor in spirit when he left His crown in heaven to become like sin and take up a crown of thorns.
Jesus mourned when He cried out to His Father at the mount of Gethsemane “let it be not my will but thy will”
Jesus was meek and merciful when at the cross He cried out “forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing”
Jesus thirst and hunger for righteousness and pure in heart as called his disciples to go with Him to pray as He knew that His death was near.
Jesus proved His commitment of persecution for righteousness sake even to the point of death when He conquered His kingdom property back.
Do you want to be part of this kingdom? Then the only one that can teach you how to live blessed is the one who demonstrated the blessings of living for Him through His kingdom. Today you can change your residency from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God if you are willing to live a blessed life.
