What is happening in the world?

· Mankind is multiplying

What leads God to decide to destroy the earth?

(first)…Who are the Sons of God
What leads God to decide to destroy the earth?
The immoral procreation by the Sons of God
The general widespread sin that effected all mankind.
· (perspective) God instructed mankind to increase and multiply…to fill the earth. When man had done this, it was completely perverted and devoid of God. They perverted the gift of procreation and the sacred union of marriage, and they allowed evil to completely overcome the deepest desires of every person.

What was God’s Righteous Response?

God is…

God is Real (v6)
o God regretted
God is Just (v7)
o “So…”
God is Sovereign (v7)
o Listen carefully to God’s words:
§ “I will blot out man whom I created … for I am sorry the I have made them.” (v7)
§ There is a perspective of God that is rapidly being so watered-down in our culture and even in our churches that we are being left with a weakened and untruthful awareness of the mighty
God is Merciful (v8)
o But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

What are we supposed to do with this knowledge of what led up to the flood?

We improve our relationship with God.
We increase spiritual growth
We share the story with others.
We see that we will ultimately spread evil or we will spread the Gospel. Let’s spread the Gospel.
