Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. - KJV
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - KJV
Proverbs 3:5–10 KJV 1900
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

I want to talk to us today about a full heart family. Among all the words that are often used to describe the nature and character of God, there's one I want a expound on in our time together today that is extremely simple but simultaneously profound and that is God is a promise keeper.

I want to talk to us today about a full heart family. Among all the words that are often used to describe the nature and character of God, there's one I want a expound on in our time together today that is extremely simple but simultaneously profound and that is God is a promise keeper.
I'm going to say it again just to make sure you heard what I said God is a promise keeper.
As a matter of fact, one of the ways he revealed himself in the Old Testament specifically to a man named Moses. He revealed himself by the utilization of a name we call Jehovah or Yahweh and I'm not sure if you're familiar with the implications of that word. That word is describing his Covenant name. It is similar to a prefix the strength of Jehovah is based on the word that comes behind it.
He's saying I am who I am. I will be who you need me to be when you need me to be that.
It's the equivalent of him saying I promise.
So when when he said he's called Jehovah-jireh it's his way of governing, covenanting, or promising to be a provider.
This is when you need peace I promise I'll be Jehovah-Shalom, I'll give you peace in the midst of the storm. When you're fighting a battle and the odds seem to be against you, I promise I'll be Jehovah-Nissi, I'll raise your hands in Victory. When you feel alone and Abandoned and isolated when people step out I promise to be Jehovah-Shammah, I'll step in and when they leave I'll stay when they don't show up I'll be there.
He's a Covenant making and a covenant keeping God. It's interesting, because this is actually Divine distinctive because God is the only one that has the ability to make and keep promises.
We have the intention to keep some of the promises that we make but we don't always have the ability to keep every promise that we make because sometimes were faced with circumstances and situations that are beyond our control and they inhibit our ability to keep promises, I can say I'm going to pick you up tomorrow at 3 and have every intention to do that and then deal with some circumstances or a situation that is beyond my control and it inhibits my ability to execute my intention. But because God is a sovereign savior, he is omnipotent and has all power, not only does he have the ability to make promises he also has the ability to keep promises because he will override, he will intervene, and he will overrule anything that gets in the way of him being faithful to what he said.
He made Moses a promise that I'm going to use you to lead Israel in an exodus out of Egypt and as he was attempting to do so the Red Sea got in the way God moved it.
When he was using Joshua's leadership to take Israel into the promised land Jericho walls got in the way God moved it and I've got a funny feeling and a sneaky suspicion that I don't just have to use Moses's testimony I don't have to use Joshua's testimony, I've Got a Feeling there's some people in this room that could say some things got in my way but God moved it because God is a promise keeper.
However in order to embrace this I think there is something else we need to understand and that is every promise is not the same.
I believe the scriptures revealed to us to kite two types of promises that are promises with conditions and Promises without conditions.
There are conditional promises and unconditional promises. Unconditional promises are based solely and completely on what God says he will do.
Conditional promises are equally predicated on what we say we will do.
Unconditional promises are all about God doing God's part.
Conditional promises are about whether or not we do our part.
It's possible to be frustrated with look up with angst with God because we can feel like he's not executing or fulfilling his part of a promise and what we could be probably asking God. Why aren't you doing your part and God can smile and look at us with sympathy and say because you aren't doing yours.
Some promises are conditional promises they are what I call if/then promises promises like if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their Wicked Ways then,
Vanguard says I'll do that then if you do this if you will do your part I promise you I'll do my part if you will be faithful to keep your word I promise you I will step in and I will allow nothing to keep me from keeping my word because not only does God speak his word the Bible says God watches his word. Jeremiah chapter number 1 vs. number 11 Jeremiah says the word of the Lord came to me and said what do you see Jeremiah and Jeremiah said I see the branch of an almond tree, he said the Lord said to me you seem correctly
Jeremiah 1:11 KJV 1900
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
Jeremiah 1:11–12 KJV 1900
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. 12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
God says to 'm watching to see that my word is for you. He says I speak it and then I stepped outside of it and I watch it and whenever it looks like my word is not going to pass through I'll jump in and I'll part Red Sea and then I'll step back and I'll watch it.
God says to 'm watching to see that my word is for you. He says I speak it and then I stepped outside of it and I watch it and whenever it looks like my word is not going to pass through I'll jump in and I'll part Red Sea and then I'll step back and I'll watch it.
He says I'm watching over your life even when you were three years old I watched it and I blocked it backed up and I watch it and you're still here today sane in the membrane not because God spoken word but because he watched it and he made sure everything he said came to pass.
God is a promise keeper.
If I do my part he'll do his part. I was reading Proverbs Chapter number three and I stumbled across a powerful, impactful, relevant, and revolutionary promise.
I wondered does anybody want this promise like I wanted.
I read I said I want that, I got to have it.
I saw condition, the condition is a full heart.
God will give a full house to those I have a full heart.
Verse five it says, trust in the Lord with all, not some, not partial, not most, but with all of your heart. He says your heart needs to be filled with trust.
In order to do this you can't lean on your own understanding, he didn't say you won't have understanding, it says you can't lean on that though. Now this is interesting, let's not just look at what's said let's look at this book of the Bible is called Proverbs. It's in a section of the Bible called wisdom literature so the purpose of this literature isn't just to make us righteous, it's to make us wise. It imparts wisdom to the reader, so the writer here is saying trust in God. It's not just the right thing to do, it's the wise thing to do. He said it is wise not to rely on your own understanding.
This is what it's saying you need trust for what you don't understand.
If I understand everything God is doing or everything God is not doing I don't need Trust.
Trust is required when understanding is absent.
God says don't lean on your own understanding, why because your understanding is inferior.
Let's put it this way, in Isaiah chapter 55 verse number 8 very powerful he says my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways.
Isaiah 55:8 KJV 1900
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
- KJV
We don't see things the same way. He says we can be looking at the same thing as see something completely differently an example of this is found in 2nd Corinthians chapter 12 name Paul has an issue he describes every thorn. He has a thorn in the flesh and he prays three times for God to remove it but God says I'm going to give you Grace to endurance because you think it would be better for me to remove this now that I'm looking at what this is doing in your life I feel like it's better that I let it stay. You think it needs to go, I think it needs to stay. We looking at the same thing but we don't see the same thing. You're saying I never been this bad I'm saying you never been this good, so you're saying you never been in this much pain, I'm saying you never been in this much prayer. I like this so I'm going to leave this here because our ways are not the same.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. - KJV
Isaiah 55:9 KJV 1900
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts.
Then He says as the heavens are higher than the Earth, so in my ways higher than yours. It's not just that my ways are different, they're also higher.
He sits high and looks low and if you ever said high and look low you know you see things differently.
When you sit high and look low, you see more than you see when you're sitting low and looking low.
So sometimes were wondering why God isn't doing certain things in God's like you have no idea I'm sitting high and I see more than you said you see today I see tomorrow you see to the hill I see over and you see to the corner I see around the corner you see you didn't get the promotion in that department I see six months later the whole Department's going to fall apart so you've actually was just directions and protection my ways are higher.
He says you have to trust me, don't lean on your own understanding. He says in all your ways submit to him one translation says in all your ways acknowledge Him that word acknowledgements consult with the intent to submit
Consult me for direction on what needs to be done and it says if you do this, I will make your path straight.
I'll send you in a straight line
You won't go in circles because when you go in circles it takes you longer to get there.
He says I'll send you in a straight line. He said I know how to get you there faster, I know how to get you there without unnecessary bumps and bruises and then it says this so now don't be wise in your own eyes.
He demonstrates one of the ways that we are the trust he says honor the Lord with your wealth.
God is saying you can trust me with this.
This really reveals where your trust is.
Malachi chapter 1 verse number 6 Malachi Malachi to speak to God's people and if I'm a father where is the honor due to me?
Where's the respect due to me? God's like put some respect on my name.
God don't have a self-esteem issue so why is he asking me to respect him? He said to them I have a problem because you're not treating me like what you call me.
You say I'm the most important thing but I can't tell.
He says you say I'm your father but I can't tell you since you say I'm your Lord but I can't tell your labeling the relationship in one way but you're behaving in another.
Is He your heavenly father?
Because you want something from me. You want a kind of commitment from me you aren't willing to make.
God says bring me the first fruits. They brought it first because the first is faith. You don't wait for the field to get filled in and then bring it.
I say this is yours
I planted it in the ground but I couldn't make it rain.
I would even have this if it wasn't for you. God you proven yourself to be trustworthy.
Because you gave me this first row I'm trusting you to fill the field.
This is what it says, he says if you do this, I want you to give me the best. The condition he says if you can get this full Heart part right, then this is what I'll do your barns will be filled to overflowing.
Now the name of the messages isn't full Barn is Full House. and your Vats will run over with new wine.
Are you following this?
Wherever you see wine and scriptures a metaphor for joy. Emotional well-being.
I'm telling you right now it's a metaphor for glad. He has made me glad.
The Old Testament words for blessed is happy.
If you don't have that, you don't have much.
When you missing that you give up everything you got to get it.
Anybody can have a full house full of stuff, you have to believe in God to have a full house.
Full of provision and peace.
You can have a house and not be fully satisfied.
Contentment, joy, peace, long suffering.
He has made me glad!
The joy of the Lord is my....
These things are spoken to you that my joy might remain in you and that your joy might be full.
Trust when it makes no sense.
God says that if you fill your heart with trust, I'll feel your barns with what only comes from me.
Father I pray today for open eyes.
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take him at his word
Just to rest on his promise
Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!"
Lord help us to trust.
and I pray for the courage to trust you more!
